I sort of went through this about a year ago. Veggies are your friend, your best friend. No one got fat by eating too many veggies. Stay away from breads and spuds as much as you can and exercise. I'm the guy at the brake check doing push-ups. Use the step of your truck to do tricep dips. I always go for a walk at the end of my day. It only takes a couple weeks before it's a habit and about a month before it stops sucking. After that, you start looking forward to it. You beat smoking! That is harder to beat that haroin from what I've read. You can beat this too. Good luck.

My goal is that when I finish a 14 hour shift behind the wheel I want to be HUNGRY. Trying to eat too much on the road will make me sleepy, not to mention overweight (not talking the CAT scale variety of overweight).

Once I finish a driving shift I want to be hungry and eat a nice salad with a slice of bread. Then I'm ready for a 10 hour "nap".

If you knew how many folks are being paid big bucks to sit on the board of directors of public companies that are pumping sugar into our food to make us sick that are ALSO sitting on the board of directors of pharmaceutical companies and health care providers...

... it would make you sick.

    Eliminate sugar from your diet.

    Period.

Sugar is an addictive substance, just like cocaine or heroine. Learn more by Googling "sugar is an addictive substance". Then make your choices.

Uncooked veggies, with all the roughage in place, are your BEST friend.

you should try "flatouts" instead of tortillas, I have been eating wraps with them for the past couple days, its a flatbread and I got the light Italian herb. It has 90 calories, 9g of protein, and 9g of fiber, 74% fewer net carbs than 2 slices of bread. I have been using the flatouts with ham, light cheese, green leaf lettuce and a little southwest ranch.

yeah thats the problem since a lot of people cook the crap out of their veggies losing all the nutrients. My wife thinks im crazy since I prefer raw broccoli with some ranch over some cooked mushy broccoli. Only time I like cooked broccoli is when its something like broccoli beef but it needs to be flash fried and not mushy.

Get a juicer! Best way to eat veggies plus mix the fruit in there. Doable in a truck. Great nutrients plus will fill you up. Plus storing fruit is easy. Also those pre made protein shakes are expensive. Get acouple shakers and some tub of protein mix from Walmart pre mix em before you drive and store them in your fridge or cooler. A lot cheaper. Plus snack on whole lightly salted almonds. Not trail mix with m&m's in them. Any kind of lightly or non salted nuts. There all over the place even in truckstops. This will make you full especially if you pound water. Lightly salted will keep you running to the restroom cause of the sodium.

The downside of juice is you don't get the pulp (fiber). This has repercussions especially in regard to fruit juice, which then gives you a concentrated dose of sugars without the benefit provided by the fiber to help slow down the digestion and uptake into your system. I've been doing more and more research in regard to the health effects of sugar in the diet, and the more I read seems to support the idea of avoiding fruit juices in favor of eating fruit. Fructose in particular seems to be problematic. I've been moving more toward eating produce rather than drinking juice, although I do buy 100% carrot juice (which has a lower amount of sugar, is moderately sweet, and leaves my stomach feeling less acidic).

For those that want probiotics it's best to avoid flavored yogurts. Next time you buy yogurt check out the ingredients and nutrition label. Some flavored yogurts have more sugar per serving than the sweetest soda pops or ice cream. Buy plain yogurt, the type with the fewest ingredients (just milk and bacteria cultures). If I can find it I will buy plain kefir, like a drinkable form of yogurt.
