^^^ He knows his Fords! :)

A man is better off getting a tranny rebuilt by a custom builder. They can add additional clutch discs with high quality aftermarket products like Raybestos and increase your towing capacity at the same time.
Dodges are sure pretty but they haven't mastered the drive train yet.

The Aisin does last awhile, but it has crappy shift points and good luck when rebuild time comes.

    Corrected that malarkey.

My apologies to your false impressions. I know a hotshot with two of that exact truck (a 2000 and a 2002 7.3 F350) in his mini-fleet of two trucks. He is currently sidelined for two blown transmissions. Meanwhile, I know a recently retired hotshot who replaced his original Dodge transmission (47RE) last year at 689,000 miles.

If your current truck is the best you've ever owned, you've owned a lot of sorry trucks. The 7.3 may have been the best engine put in a Ford, but ti still has a ton of issues (under powered, lower economy numbers than the competition, poor CPS design, poor glow plug/controller design, weak transmission, etc).

Happy Diesel day. Rudolf Diesel was born on March 18, 1858. He invented Diesel Fuel, of course, so our Duramax's would work and watches that hairdressers wear.

In my opinion they have all become an overpriced pile of nuts and bolts riddled with an equal amount of problems amongst the big 3, just in different areas. I do agree with others though that if you plan on using this truck for business purposes I would invest in a diesel in the near future for fuel economy purposes. The 6.0 is a great engine as well as the 4l80e a good strong tranny considering it is pretty much a descendant of the th400.

I bought a new '02 Chevy 2500 4x4 HD with the towing package in Oct 2001 and still use it as a daily driver with 212,000. Still runs great. No concerns with tranny or motor, but had to have a new/used rear end installed at about 180,000. Other than that it just been normal maintenance with brakes, batteries, etc...Oh I a did have to replace the brake lines at about 160,000 do to rust. It's now starting to show signs of body rust, but no whole, yet. I have no plans of getting rid of this vehicle, in fact, have been considering having it reconditioned so I can have a classic in 15 to 20 years...LOL Seriously, this has been the best vehicle I have owned since my first car in 1973.
