Jared, I did the exact opposite of you. I drove for 5 years, 1985-1990, then went to college. According to CRE recruiter they pay .25 cpm. By leaving trucking when I did I lost my chance to be grandfathered into CDL-A. Now, 25 years later I'm in school getting my CDL-A. Please, listen to everyone on this thread. STAY AWAY from CRE! .25cpm is NOT going to help you pay-off anything or buy stuff you need. After they take out the cost of school you probably will be fortunate if you break even, Also, keep in mind trucking is a lifestyle, you have to want it! Good luck in your future endeavors. Just had to throw my .02 cents in.

Noob: "I want to drive a truck. Who should I go with, A: CR England or -"
Old Timer: "B".
CRE trucks have the following on the back of their trailers:
Lease
Train
Drive
Team
Turns out that those are the four things that you must do to make any money at CRE.
Sad to say, but a new solo driver earns more at Swift than at CRE. -
Yeahh. Got some in my cabinet right nowSwamprat55 Thanks this. -
I would stay far away from ffe. They still have mud on their trucks from the last time it rained. Its actually more like cement now. But that rain was 2 months ago. Their yard is gross

At Stevens, there is no determined time...3 yrs or more to pay it off, no forgiveness.

You are better off being unemployed than to work for CR England. And no, that is not a joke I am being serious.

You wonder why all yhe people that whine about CRE are lease operators? Its because it was their only choice. They have 3 phases of training. Phase 1 is actual training. Phase 2 is trainimg with a lease operator who sells to you the whole time. Then, when its time for phase 3, they have no trainers available for weeks and weeks, BUT, you could lease with them and hit the road tomorrow!
wyldhorses and Toomanybikes Thank this. -
That's a huge problem out here and it explains a lot of the crappy drivers we deal with. They are out here because they feel they have no other choice and the bottom-feeders capitalize on that and take huge advantage of these people. So, now, we get to deal with the crappy attitudes of those that hate what they do and don't want to be out here but are trapped.

I pretty much figured that something like that would happen but every other company sponsored training program I've looked at is pretty stern on applicants having 3 years worth of work history, 3 driving citations in 3 years (which isn't really a big deal for me because all of mine go away in july) also do they count speeding tickets? Because CR told me speeding citations are just for insurance purposes. Also it was only 2-5 miles over the speed limit, Texas DPS officers are A-holes

My ex and I leased onto CRE...after he got his CDL elsewhere ...DON'T DO IT! We lost everything. Try a different school other than CRE... Check them out online for complaints there are 1000's and 1000's!... Listen to these truckers on here, all the info I have read on here is point on. But honestly do yourself a favor and STAY IN SCHOOL.
