On 7-6-2013 we brought our 2007 FL C120 in due to some irregular tire wear and a slight shack in steering. They said it was the kingpins, so we had the kingpins, tie rod, wheel hub, 3 axle alignment and then put on some new GY 399a 295/75r22.5. About a month later we started to see the tire wear shown in these pics. If you face the tire and look at it like a clock, the wear only goes from 12 - 5 from 5 - 12 the tire is wearing perfectly. We brought it back in and the said the had now idea what would cause this, they redid the alignment, but the wheel would not center due to the Tie rod being installed incorrectly so they redid the tire rod. Not to mention, they then "realized" we needed a whole new brake system, but that is a different story. So has anyone else seem this kind of wear and what could it be from. There only suggestion they had was it could be the rear leaf spring bushings and they wanted to install four new rear springs for 4K, but this is on the steer tires and the drive tires are wearing fine.

Did you have the tires balanced?
-
Yes they were balanced again at the end of Dec.
-
Did you get them spin balanced or hub balanced
-
A few years back my local Goodyear dealer talked me into trying a set of these tires, I to had some weird wear patterns. I had them spin balanced, full alignment done and they wore out a lot faster than my michelins I tried another set with balancing beads and they too wore weird, Goodyear did zero for me so I switched back to Michelin xza3+ and problem solved. I spent hundreds upon hundreds to fix a problem that didn't really exist. I saved a few hundred dollars buying Goodyear steers but spent that on balancing and alignments etc.
-
To be honest I am not sure. They balanced them when we put them on, on 7-6-13, then they told use they did it again on 12-29-2013, when we brought it back in. It was done at the TA.
-
I would guess Ta would spin balance I would like to see the tire hub balanced to see how far out of round they are but from looking at pics I am going with some of the other people just a bad set of tires
djsands Thanks this. -
Well I talked to GY and they said to call Wingfoot (who handles their stuff in my area), WF told me to bring it up but, from what I described they think this is a known issue that GY's warranty does not cover it. GY's normal position on this is to just live with it, but he said that since this happened so quick that they will see if there is anything they can do.

They should step up and give you a adjustment of some kind but dont be shocked when its only about half of what new tires cost
-
It sounds like the improper tie rod caused it. The tires will be never be right now. That shop owes you new steers.
