THAT IS NOT THE POINT AT ALL. I REALIZE THERE ARE EXCELLENT RATES OUT THERE. THE POINT IS THEY ARE NOT GETTING TO THE TRUCKERS DUE TO HIGH FUEL PRICES AND BROKERS GOUGING THE HELL OUT OF THE TRUCKERS. THINK ABOUT IT... THERE IS A LOAD THAT PAYS $3 PER MILE AND BY THE TIME YOU GET IT IT PAYS A BUCK AND A QUARTER AND NO FSC IN SITE.

MANDATORY FSC 100% PASS THROUGH TO THE TRUCK (NOT THE TRUCKING COMPANY UNLESS THEY OWN THE TRUCK) BUT TO THE TRUCK.

REGULATE AND ENFORCE BROKERS WHO ARE GOUGING AND FALSELY REPRESENTING THEMSELVES AS CARRIERS. BELIEVE ME, THERE ARE A LOT MORE DOING THIS THAN YOU MAY THINK. MANY CUSTOMERS BELIEVE THEY ARE DEALING WITH A COMPANY WITH TRUCKS WHEN THEY ARE TALKING TO THE BROKERS. WHY WOULD YOU GIVE 50% OF YOUR CHECK TO SOMEONE TO MAKE A PHONE CALL FOR YOU- YOU WOULD NOT!!!

i understand that..but in the news article it said that they were making as high as $4 a mile and some were making as little as 2.50 a mile....i dont see why would they strike if they making that kind of rate im beating up my customer trying to get 2/a mile

Using Hemp for fuel would be way more efficient, you can get ten times the amount of diesel and unleaded fuel out of hemp than you can with corn or soybeans. and produce as much paper as 4 acres of trees with just one acre of hemp. Right now it takes more energy to produce diesel from soybeans than the energy it puts out. go to jackherer.com to learn more this is a real solution to the problem. six tates have already approved of this but are being held back from the DEA. (another waste of our tax dollars).

 

....for working so hard today to improve the image of the average truck driver on the road. Reading through the comments made by the supposed professionals goes such a long way to getting the public on your side.

All that was accomplished today was affecting the lives of people who can no more control the price of fuel than you or I. The effort certainly got the attention sought, but not the support you wanted.

I voted yes. I am not in the trucking industry but I do understand the need for lower fuel prices for truckers. I don't believe for a second that reduced fuel prices will be passed on to the consumer in the form of reduced prices at the retailer. Corporate America has no problem passing along it's costs to the working class, but once they get that price up there good luck getting it back down.

I wonder if people outside the trucking industry are voting no thinking either we all need a break or maybe that any break given to the trucking industry will be made up (plus some) by passing that "cost" along to the general public, ie. higher gas prices. Just a thought, I still stand by my yes vote.

Oh, and TX_Proud... I'm not going to pass judgement on the backbone of America based on the comments of one twisted individual. It's not a raise they're asking for, they're asking to be able to keep more of their hard earned money in their pockets, rather than lining the pockets of big oil. Something I think we'd all like to do.
