well I getting things ready to head to orientation on Sunday. I want to take enough food pre cooked from home to last me around 2 weeks .My plan is too cook some beef and chicken enough to last me 2 weeks . The food I'm going to eat on the 1st week I'm going to just cook and keep it unfrozen in my cooler .The food I'm going to eat on my 2nd week I plan to freeze rock solid before I leave and keep it in a cooler filled with ice and water drained daily. Do you think it will last and not spoil as long as I keep it on ice . I also plan on keeping salt mixed in with my ice because I know that will make it colder

What kind of cooler? If it were a yeti or something compatible maybe but don't take a chance on poisoning yourself.

When I had a cooler I put frozen game hens in it and they stayed frozen for about 4-5 days by then they were defrosted enough in order to cook. Maybe get you some dry ice to put in cooler to help keep frozen product froze longer if at home once you leave there not sure about availability of dry ice but good news is there is always a walmart somewhere one can park at to at least p/u fresh meat

In either case cooked or uncooked, IF you keep the meat frozen then it will last the two week's. IF on the other hand at any time the uncooked meat thaws then it either needs to be cooked or thrown out. You can refreeze the cooked meat, it just needs to be frozen solid.

I would find out if the place you are staying at during orientation has a Kitchenette, with a regular refrigerator/freezer. You could then transfer frozen uncooked the meat into that and it would be safer.

I will be staying in a hotel room it's a 40 quart igloo cooler that keeps ice in it for up to a week if I am offered a job I will most likely just go out and by a refrigerator cause I will eventually need one for my truck

Just curios, what orientation are you attending that you need to bring your own food? Don't they provide at least two meals?

Go to walmart and get the microwave meals that are not frozen. You can get anything from meat loaf beef stew to chicken Alfredo that doesn't require a fridge. Cheap too. Not worth getting food poisoning trying not to eat out every night

I was kinda thinking that. 2 of the 3 companies that my husband attended orientation at provided at least 2 meals, the 3rd company's orientation was 1 day long... they gave us lunch.... and the keys to the truck by 5pm.
