I heard that some doctors in Florida are charging upwards of $800 for a medical card exam. And that some employers are flying their drivers to where it is cheaper, much much cheaper. Does anyone know if this is true?

Doubt it.
Plane fare would exceed any savings. -
Quantity discounts?
-
Why would you worry about it since you live in Connecticut?

I'm a doctor. (See my profile.) I can help with a lot of medical questions. I'm curious. Can't discuss fees beyond the question (seems outlandish), as that would be tantamount to an anti-trust violation. But it's a jaw-dropping report.
Also, I'm leaving the house in half an hour to go take the the CME certifying exam, and frankly, I'm just noodling around, trying not to think too much about it, and hence avoid the issue.
And, if anyone thinks I'm trolling for business, I work for a hospital-based clinic system, and get paid by the hour, not the revenue. I get no reward for churning accounts, or bringing in new accounts. I'm just curious. (Actually, I'm happy with a light schedule. I don't move that fast these days.) -
Trying to find an excuse to jack rates up, lol.
Fly up here and I'll do it for $300.
Walking clinics start at $40. Even in FL. -
Not discussing price here, but $40 is a bargain. Go for it. Us? Not one-tenth of the original cited rate.
-
So, you are trolling for business? Hope that some of the companies fly their Florida driver's to your clinic in Connecticut(sic)???
-
Nope. I get paid by the hour. Don't care how many people walk through the door. The fewer, the better, just so long as the overhead gets paid. Not my clinic. Not my overhead. If you want information privately, email me.
I'm semi-retired. I keep doing this because it gets me out of the house. And I like the staff at all the clinics I work at. It's a good way to spend the day, even if I have to do some work. (Not kidding. One day at one of the clinics, I saw one patient in eight hours. I don't know how they stay open.)
As to my original question, just curious. Can't really believe what I heard. But if it's true, I'd expect it in Florida. -
