... says the flatbed drivers. If you're a reefer runner, you don't exactly have a choice much of the time when you run, when you unload, and when you're forced off premise to fictitious parking areas "nearby"

depends on what area of the country.

phoenix is lucky to have a spot any time of day. dallas. some areas of the northeast are also that way.,

other areas of the country at no problem at 3 a.m.

Flatbed drivers seldom have a choice either. Home Depot, Lowes, and Menards Distribution Centers generally dont allow overnight parking either. And most steel mills don't either.

I got caught up in the no parking once in Ohio. Only place I found was the exit ramp of a rest area. State trooper woke me and was jabbering about how his uncle is a trucker and he understands, blah, blah, then gave me a $75.00 ticket even though I was in the gravel and not on the paved ramp.

    Exactly.

09:00 PM Pageland, SC one thing, 09:00 PM Bedford, PA quite another. They'll figure it out eventually.

I do agree with STexan that these places that screw away hours of our days need to be required to provide parking, I don't see it happening. Many times it isn't even their choice. Sometimes it has to do with zoning, city ordinances, and how whiny the neighbors are. And when a neighbor looks over the fence and see some dirt bag driver urinating under his truck or having to pick up pee bottles from his front yard in the morning, well, we know how welcome we will be when the discussion comes up again.

The availability of truck parking is the inverse of the cost of real estate specifically land. It's why you won't find truck stops in the SF Bay area, north Jersey, etc.

Despite that I use the TruckerPath app on my phone and find parking everywhere I go. At a minimum I require a place I won't risk getting slammed by a drunk and a bathroom in the morning.
