Very sorry Deming for spelling your name incorrectly, my apologies. Though after reading this while tread and with the fact that we will be buying a new truck and trailer next month, eventually starting a fleet. We have to go with a t680 but my specs would have to be as light weight as possible. Looking at a 2015 t680 with a cummins isx 450 or 485 with a 13 speed manual and 3.36 ratio. Would love to hear feedback and ideas because the route w/ reefer is mostly Cali to New York or Boston or Florida.

I have the 450hp with 1550/1750 torque and 3.08 ratio. It works well on flat, but can painful in the Rockies. Also if you switch to 485, you have to have higher cruising RPM. Use the Cummins powerspec program to make the correct specification for your application. I have no experience in mountain region and with reefer. However I am happy with the super singles after this brutal winter. I did not find any problems compared to duals. But I would not buy anything else than Michelin (yet) and only with tire pressure monitoring system... And I regret not to try the Holland aluminum fifth wheel with the teflon plate. Also you can find some information about my research, experience and up and downs in the "My new truck will be" thread.

The warranty is the standard one year in the industry. .. What I think it is a shame. But of course you have different warranties on the main components.
The 680 is better, newer design, more aerodynamic, modern dash, aluminum body, (includes doors!) and so on. The T700 is a face lifted version of the T2000, what is a low volume 15 years old design. The T680 is the new mainstream truck of the KW (and of course the Pete 587). They put lot of effort to design. If you are team maybe the little extra room can outweigh these benefits. If you want to sit farther from your co-driver. :biggrin_25519:But yours to consider.

I drive only solo, less headaches,i don't like to sleep when the truck is running. The 680 and 587 have the same Cab.Why you was buying the 680 and not the 587,maybe the warranty is longer whit the pete.the engine is the same in both Trucks.

3.08 is very aggressive for my taste. All my "trucking life" I used to drive 3.58. But I never drive powerful truck with very low ratio (which 3.08 and such is). My previous truck was weak (ISX 400 and 3.36), real pain in ###. I would NEVER ever recommend engine lower than 485 or, more important, with torq LOWER than 1850f/lb. The main reason I bought ISX15 550 is torq (2050). As I understand Dana-Spicer does not have 3.58 ratio, so I did chose 3.55. Higher ratio (3.70 or more) is important in mountains or if you haul extra heavy load. Reefer seems to be not such a load so 3.55 looks optimal for me.As for vehicle weigh I was not very worried about - you can always ask a broker to limit load up to 42000lb or so. As for me I have not have problems just yet. If you are owner operator you should be prepared for extra weigh for your "custom" specially ordered truck. Yes, my truck with ISX15 550/13sp UltraSHift+, full fairings, 285gal, 240inch base, triPac is NOT feather light, zub-vi.gif but it a real pleasure to fly over PA pulling 70000lb and averaging 7.0mpg... Hope this helps. pivo-vi.gif

Let me put my $0.02. T700's main advantage is the WIDE cab. In T680 I do experience some inconvenience backing to the dock, I open window and can't see the tail of my trailer. Also mirrors on t680 are not as convenient (location, ergonomics) as on volvo - I can't see what I used to see and need to see.
The main disadvantages for me in T700 is it's ugly interior. I would rather buy T700 cab with T680's interior (while its also not perfected for my taste).

I think the T680 is more aerodynamic, the mirror on the "A" pillar not on the door, inside there is space for extra six mechanical gauges on the top of the nav-plus, bigger and higher integrated sleeper. And it looks better for me.
And of course we are comparing to the Pete 579, not the 587.
