When I was 16 I used to drive my car around with the headers open making lots of noise.
Well these guys are still mentally 16.alds Thanks this. -
they are also the reason you come to a nice big downgrade witha sign that says no engine braking! just love those
-
I have a series 60 Detroit and a 10 speed in my truck and if your familiar with that engine you know how slowly they lose RPM's between up shifts.. using the jake set on 2 cylinders is an excellent way to grab gears faster (or at all) when starting from a stop on a hill. if you have the option, turning on the engine fan also works well for this purpose.
Anytime you see this used around a Truckstop or on level ground it shows the driver is very lazy, (wont turn off the switch) a moron, or both. -
'cuz I run my engine brakes all the time. Brake shoe linings cost money, down-shifting with engine braking costs nothing. The only place I don't use the "jakes" is at the truckstop and in residential neighborhoods.
-
Yeah, nothign like living in an area that people think isnt a residential area only to wake up at 2am to hear the sound of a loud-### jake as they slow down ...."bababababababababababababbbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa....baaaaaaaaaa......baaaababababababababababababababab.............................BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH"
the engine slows itself down naturally in gear. Downshift to lower gears one by one as you slow, applying a light brake. lol wear and tear on brake pads...wow. -
Using unmuffled engine brakes in towns must be fined by cops.At least it's no respect to citizens.
-
Looks like your OK to me, anything besides what you mentioned is common sense use.
-
You obviously don't buy your own truck parts.
And unmuffled engine brakes are the problem not muffled engine brakes. A jake through a set of mufflers is barely louder than the motor. It's the straight pipe crowd that has seen to it that we can't ever run our engine brakes without fear of a fine -
I bet you really needed that driving lesson from the rookie. you really should thank him for enlightening you on all your wrongdoings in life
