CB shop black list.

Yup he is still there. His shop is in the strip mall next to the petro. McDonald's is right across the street from him. He has an agreement with McDonald's to do work on rigs in McDonald's parking lot. I live in the area and go to him for all my radio needs.

 

Best CB man of all time was a tech class ham operator in Ontario CA just down the street from the truckstops..... Bill Good. He passed away something like 10 years ago now and there hasn't been a good cb/ham shop around a truckstop anywhere, ever since.

R.I.P. Bill, you were the best. (only ham tech I've known that would work on a cber's amps...lol... Bill got a kick out of us truckers)

 

You could take anything to Bill and he would have it talking sweet. I used to look for drivers who had let some cb hack screw up their Cobra 148, or Ranger RCI radio, and were so frustrated with the radio being reduced to junk status by some motorhome golden screwdriver guy that they just wanted to sell it to the first dude with $50 to $75 that would take it....lol.... I'd go see Billy Good.....had me one nice radio when he was done with it, would get compliments from the sideband ham operators about how on freq that fixed radio would be after Bill fixed it up.... I'd go and trade or resale it to another driver and start looking for another one to bring back to Bill....lol...those were the days...

Still have my old Ranger that Bill really tricked out, Mosfet receive, digital echo, digital recorder with 120 sec of record time and multiple partitions...monster audio that one, clean and clear... that one I'll never sell. Used to record people with it and play it back, it was so clear and clean no one could tell the difference between the recording and the original transmission...had a lot of fun with that one....the cb crowd just sorta died out though, hardly anyone even has one on anymore....

 

Bill G. was definitely a good tech, some of his mods were used in the design of the RCI 29**DX models.

To the guy with the Galaxy that had something cut out an you now sound like crap. He cut out the Modulation limiter.
the worst thing to do, that guy is a hack. Find a good shop and have them reinstall it.

If y'all go into a shop and they tell you they can tune & give it an alignment look on their work bench an look for an oscilloscope, if you don't see one take your radio an leave.

And as far as bad rip off artists, never buy anything from " Radioactive Radios " he is a snake oil salesman.
Everything in has pitch is BS so he can rip you off. All radio manufacturers will void the warranty the second they open it and see his work.

 

Or for a whole cheaper you can just turn the mic gain down.........

 

Lots of years on the road many many year using radio gear. One place to definitely STAY AWAY FROM is RADIO ACTIVE RADIO in ARIZONA I.E. With their Super Whacked pack
thinga mabob that means basically top gun modulator. Dont begin to listen to this guy he talks you into a COMA. He starts by defending himself and his shop and he has REAL MEN working there and pays REAL MENS WAGES YADADA YADADA YADADA the list goes on. Slower than death etc Backs his work lifetime ! But when theradio doesnt do what he said it would...He wont own up to it. I bought a base radio from him A Galaxy Saturn Turbo...nothing but a rci 2950 in disquis and in a hefty box. I ordered this radio in November .He said two weeks it would be done. After 2 1/2 months I cancelled a midst all his excuses like(he was building house for habitat for humanity with Jimmy Carter) LMAO three dayslater the radios here I called and siad Im sending it back. No no just try it youll love it...I unboxed it it was missing 3 knobs had a craked meter window and half of the freq couter digits were dark. Boxed it back up and sent the toilet back THEN he didnt want to return 550. .Well long story short I got the $$ lol... STAY AWAY /CAVEAT EMPTOR, RETREAT, RUN ,HAMMER DOWN THRU AZ . Anything that comes out of this guys mouth is an untruth ,that is if you can tell just what side of his face is actually doing the BSing Take care Drivers . .




BTW one decent shop is quick, good prices is The Radio Shop in PA

There are several sites that radioactive advertises on and will ban you if you if you say anything bad about them. Probably not a good sign.

The radio shops still there?!? I was passin through the area a ways back on a hunting to look around. That IS a good sign.
