I was talking to a driver who told me that CA has issues with lift axles.

    1. The 4 axle truck needs to be register in CA to be used in CA.
    2. The controls for the lift axle care to be mounted on the external of the truck and not in the cab.

    Anyone here of this?

Actually they can. Seeings how they are issuing the permit they can require what thru want. The truck doesn't have to be registered in Cali but it has to be certified by Cali which is only done at a few places just like a multi axle trailer must be certified. Yes all controls have to be mounted outside.

Man... Can anyone say if it's worth the money to work within CA?? Given the equipment registration/requirements/Carb (CARB another story)

Like Haulhand stated. The trk. and bigger trls. needed to be Ca. certified. You have to set up an appt. for them to meet you near the Ca. line.
They will want an mty. wght ticket. within a 10 day or less time frame I believe.
They will measure axle spacings and check to see how your extra axle is controlled..
Then the trk. info and if you are getting a trl. certified also, all the info is filled out and you will be given a copy of it for you to keep and also for your company to have on file as well. View attachment 63659

So when I spoke to the person who handles the certs for Northern California the following are requirements

Single leveling valve for all three axles

If you run single tires they must be at least 445 -

The axle must be controlled from outside the cab

I refuse to go to cali. They can figure out how to get their own goods in and out. The dot and cali legislation think that they are god.
