Yes, its auto, and yes, its stunning. Actually, my impressions split into 2 main directions: positive and negative.
    Positives are:
    1. It shift quick and almost silent. From time to time you can hear metal "click", but its normal and not annoying.
    2. You will never hear "grgrgrgrggrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" trying to put on gear.
    3. You will never "dance" on your seat, pushing hard clutch pedal and damaging the seat with your hips. Your nates are dry. smile-vi.gif
    4. Its fantastic to down/upshift in mountains with just a light push of a knob on a stick.
    5. You can override in Auto in any time (if engine rpm and load allows).
    5. It can skip a gear while upshifting in higher range (f.e. 8-10-12-13, not 8-9-10-11-12-13)

    Negatives are:
    1. Paccar case for cobra style lever is ugly.
    2. Switching Algorithm in lower range is not perfect also. You need to switch to Manual Mode to prevent gearbox to swing between gears. In traffic it could swing 3-4-3-4-3-4 instead of steady 3 or 4.
    3. It speeds up relatively slowly coz it cant skip a gear in lower range. You will go 2-3-4-5-... , but not 2-4-6 etc. But nontheless when you reach 6th gear the speed-up is great.
    4. You can't jump start your truck with a chain or so. You ALWAYS need to have 1) good starter 2) good battery 3) air in tanks.

But I love my UltraShift+. Next time I ever need a truck I will definitely buy Auto gearbox again. By that time it will be even more advanced.

I aggressively went after the best possible fuel economy, no question about that and it works as planned. I have awesome mpg..... But I agree my advantage would disappear (or could even worse) in mountain region or over 80,000 gross, and the top of it it would be a pain to drive.

The 587 is the face lifted 387, which is the T2000 Pete version. So the 587 on the same platform than the T700. The new design what is on the same platform as the T680 is the 579.

Thank you very much Oram for that information and i will be sure to check out your thread and for empty weight, what is yours though i prefer duals instead of super singles, because reefer can get pretty heavy at times though a blowout with super singles is that much more damaging to the rim if you have a heavy load and is a much more expensive tire than one for a dual. Did that holland aluminum fifth wheel drop the weight factor a bit

That seems pretty good and yes its helpful and the tripac is something i will be getting for sure and the fuel mpg is not bad, though my last truck was a 2001 pete 387 and i drove that sucker over 2 million. It had a C15 550hp and an 18 speed trans but i have always been an owner operator since 1993 though that truck would haul ### up hills and never went under 80 mph (left lane gang member) but the mpg was from 5.5 to 6.5 though i have a friend with a 600 hp isx15 in his t660 and he also hauls reefer like me but his mpg is from 6.5 to 7.5 no matter what load so im double minded between 485 or 600

Well, the super singles save some 400lbs and 4% fuel. I think if you use high quality virgin tires, (in case of SS only Michelin), look after them, you have tire pressure monitoring system and you keep it within 5psi all the time, the chance for blown up tire is quite minimal. By the way I have had only one in the last 14 years, because I could not avoid a fallen ladder and it cut the inside wall... Actually it did not blow up, just lost all pressure instantly. On company trailers on junk tires and who knows pressure yes, I have had more than few. But for sure, I can tell in 15 years. Check back then.:biggrin_25519:
The aluminum fifth wheel save only 100 or so lbs, but a little here and little there can add up quickly. For me the main reason I regret not to have it, the messing with the grease.

Would hooking multiple trailers that have grease build up affect The fifth wheel with the teflon?

Actually they said, the teflon will last longer with some extra lubrication.
