I would definitely buy an older truck with or without the fresh rebuild. . I currently own a 98 9200 with a little m11 cummins and I run local with it.. my brother has a small fleet of 16 trucks all 05 up to 2014 and I have way less down time and his trucks are local too... I always find it a little funny when he cries about egr coolers and dpf filters costing a ton of down time and lost revenue when he thought I was nuts to buy such an older truck with the little motor. That 12.7 Detroit is a great engine and if set up right makes great power and mpg parts are cheaper and most small town shops like the guy I use can work on them .. buy the older truck it won't take long for your wife to see the difference. And one more thing to consider if it is going to be a local truck wich is subject to way more abuse that otr. Stay away from those sealed life time front wheel hubs.. If the truck has high milage over 800 and never been changed that's a 800 to 1500 each side to consider doing on day one... I speak from experience on this..

I hate to hijack the thread, but I run a 96 Intl s/a COE in Commufornia and will have to get out of her in 2016 and into something newer with DPF garbage.... Can you guys offer any ideas on a good used rig to get? I run a 7 car parking lot right now and only gross 55k, but am looking to go bigger so looking for twin screw, 10 spd condo sleeper so I can take my boy on the road with me. I don't wanna touch anything older than 2010 due to emissions problems still not being figured out, and fuel economy is more important that looking cool. I'd appreciate your insight.
