Hey guys,
Been driving a few years and have hauled a lot of dirt in regular end dump trucks but now the fun is starting this week with Live bottom(belt) trailers. Gonna start working Weds after a bit more training tomorrow for a broker who hauls for a large company here in town that hauls Nickel ore for the local mines. From my understand it's a pretty simple job. I do 3 loads a day and pick up a load for my cross shift. Get loaded from either a 980 Cat loader or from above at the mine. Unloading is 99% of the time in a big field that you back up to a pile and have at it.
Any tips/tricks to these trailers? I am familiar with PTO's and hydraulics but new to this kind of trailer. Although the cold weather is hopefully leaving us up here in Northern Ontario, anything I should keep an extra eye on?
New live bottom driver looking for some tips/tricks

Who for? Ostrowalker was hiring as was Hogan I know for sure. Sounds like doing nickel rim haulage if they want 3 loads plus a pre-load. I liked that run, day goes by nice.
As for unloading, if unloading at strathcona watch out for chunks, don't back over rocks. Some loader operators don't maintain the roads very well. Very rare it's a big field, depending how much feed they have it can get tight in there. -
Ostrowalker..the young fella(Chad). Hogan is always looking - didn't even bother getting in touch with him lol. From what I've seen and kinda been told it's always a big field but good to know I'll have to back em up a bit more then I thought lol.

Right on, when running nights say hi to the guy in the old mans Pete. Steve is a cool dude, call him pipe down. Haha

DO NOT set the rpms over 1100.some material walks off easier than others yet some will build up rather quickly hence only allowing the pile to rise up to the trailer lip, then pulling forward a bit for the next pile.YOU CAN'T get it all 100% out so when the rails quit moving the material off, shut it down. You may be asked to sweep the rest out or will anyway to eliminate it flying out going down the road and getting called in on.
