What expenses are you talking about exactly bud? And the majority of roehl students I've trained are in their 40 or 50s. And all the home time fleets work well but u have to share the truck.

Expenses I'm talking about are meals, showers etc. Glad to hear I'm not out of line on the age thing.
-
No no. Your age isn't going to discourage us. Showers are free at fuel stood with 50 gallons or more. You won't have to worry about that. Meals are on you. BUT at tax times you get a daily per diem so keep track of your days on the road. And while your in training you will have a daily living allowance. If you have to pay tolls they pick them up on your check. We have matinence accounts with petro/ta. So you don't have to buy oil, howes, washer fluid etc. IIf you pick up something like that because your in a bind, keep the receipt and turn it in so it gets reimbursed on your check.

So basically you get a tax deduction for the cost of meals come tax time.

Around 40 dollars a day. Don't keep your food receipts. Just every six months call the safety department and tell them you want your logs emailed to you. Take then into your tax guy. Keep your receipts for other expenses as the per diem is food only.

That's good info, thanks!

Truckers per diem is 80% of $59.00 a day and is prorated on days you aren't away from your taxable home for a full 24 hours. Company drivers would use the form for employee unreimbursed business expenses. This deduction is for food and entertainment only. Showers and other expenses should be fully deductible. You should check with a tax professional for official advice.

I'll do that. Great insight!

Actually I crochet too...LOL But as long as I can keep my hands from being idle and my mind free to roam it relaxes me. Besides the kids want a blanket as do several family members and while I sit for my downtime I might as well be productive!
