That is where I disagree... he did not make a silly mistake... he was neglect, careless and irresponsible... this time no one was injured or killed..
But a driver who doesnt even take tne time or effort to fuel is truck properly and without damage is moretban likely negligent, careless and irresponsible in other areas as well...
His actions, or lack of, to me are like a driver who doesnt Get Out And Look to make sure they don't hit something... he is like the driver who gets out to see what he hit... would it be a silly mistake if kt were your truck he damaged...
I do not know how you see it as a mistake.. I can think of 10 things of the top of my nead that he could of and should of done to prevent this..
1. He could of ask the shop to go over his truck and explain things that he didnt know or understand.. they wojld of explained DEF to him
2. He coukd of gone to the werner site and taken the CBT course on DEF or watched one of the videos about it, there is one o. Fueling a DEF truck
3. He could of called the 24 hour 7 days a week help line
4. Could of called the 24 hour 7 days a week shop desk
5 could of called the 24 hour 7 days a week fuel desk
6. could of asked another werner driver who has a DEF truck
7. Could of asked another driver who has a DEF truck
8. Could of posted the question nere on the truckers report if it hasn already been asked and answered
9. Could of googled it
10. Could of watched the youtube video about it..
I just dont see how it is a silly mistake.. you all go to truck stops.. you see the DEF stuff all the time.. at tne pumps and inside with tne big DEF portable containers... werner gives their drives two of them when they are assigned their truck, along with a case of fuel additive, oil, wasner fluid, tool bag and tools, load straps and a lock and key..
He is with werner.. they are a training company and as new drivers we have trainging wheels.. if he was with a smaller company that did not offer the over whelming support nd resourses... I still would not call it slly mistake when ne took no measures to avoid it... he could of asked anotner driver or the truck stop employees...

Could have, should have its already done why keep harping and harping on it.He knows he did wrong.now the balls in werners court.
TexTrucker and tonakis Thank this. -
Man y'all are still beating that same dead horse, saying the same stuff over and over again. Do you honestly think that he doesn't know he messed up? Have any of us lead perfect lives without doing something wrong? That would be awesome. No need for car insurance, personal injury lawyers, etc.
It sounds to me that werner is taking advantage of the fact that he's a rookie and unsure of what they can do. Or maybe they haven't made a decision on his employment status. I know if it were me, I'd of been raising hell if my truck was in the shop for that long and I was sitting.... Or perhaps tatonkis knows that he just cost them over 10k in repairs and lost revenue and maybe... just maybe, rocking the boat at this point may not be the wisest of choices if he wants to remain employed.Dinomite Thanks this. -
This is absolutely irrevelant to this thread. As mentioned in earlier posts, I fueled with DEF right after the mistake I made. I didn't think I have to clarify for you and actually say that "now I know how to fuel DEF". I guess I hoped you can figure this part out.

So,, I am bad about erasing my messages from my qualcomms... and was just doing that..
There were several message sent over tne winter months and certainly within tne last two about fuel additives .. about diesel gelling in cold temps, it also says for Drivers witb DEF to carry extra DEF which they can pick up at any terminal, or get authorization and EFS check to purchase.. on at least two of the messages there it was stated for drivers of DEF not to put DEF in the fuel tank or Fuel in the DEF tank if you have anhy questions about fuel additives or DEF call.. 877 ### #### ext. ####
Also had stuff about carry extra food, water and blankets....Dinomite Thanks this. -
Read the thread again. I don't want to repeat myself all over again and explain EXACTLY how and why this happened.
pattyj Thanks this. -
I know, because I am European. In Europe's gas stations you have separate hose for each octane fuel, diesel or CNG/LPG. In the states - one hose with buttons for selecting the grade/octane.

#### internet dropped and lost my post. I'll make it short this time- Werner doesn't care about you as a driver. You've spent 12 days sitting in a hotel paying for it out of your own pocket. When my truck broke down know how long I sat for? 6 hours. My company loaded a loaner truck in a rng and brought it to my house in Iowa from Nebraska. We are a small company of 130 trucks. Werner has what over 5000 easy. Can't tell me there isn't a spare sitting close by.
This is why these companies do this to drivers- because guys like you allow it. I would of told them to stick in their ### and found a new job by now and been making money instead of sittin in a hotel. -
883BedomRider,
You still have not answered to my post #319.
Instead, you wrote two novels about things already answered in this thread. -
