If you can afford 600hp - go for it. If you drove last 10 years 550hp it would be some kind of "bad idea" to downgrade to 485hp whatsoever. Except you go "aggressively" ((c) Oram) after fuel economy. View attachment 63754 Driving style also matters. I think you shouldn't expect 7.0 or more mpg keeping speed 80mph or so. And everybody who tell you so is lying. I used to drive ISX475/3.58 for some time, mostly 77mph (locked), I've never seen mileage better than 5.5mpg.Simranjit Thanks this.

Nice to know that oram because now I am double minded because 4% fuel savings and 400 pounds less will accumulate to savings eventually

That was after the overhaul at 750k that I got it 550hp but before it was 475hp though I saw the mpg difference with the old motor and this was the same and trust me after that I had two trucks that I do not count. The 2001 Pete I sold in 2011 though I learned not to drive so fast after my passenger side tire mad wheel came off twice along with the rim. Once by smokey bear rd on I 5 in the mountains and I believe I was at 65 mph. Tore the bumper off as well and the second was in New Mexico 2 years after the first and that time I was at 75 or 80 mph though after that I started to drive max 70 mph and saw my mpg increase along with the now 10 min pre trip inspection I do on the tires before I roll. After that I got an 06 t600 cat 475, beautiful truck but git stolen within the first year and never found it. Then dumb me with ca emission laws got an 08' 387 dual turbo with the dpf at 475 later upped to 550. Ran me ragged with 30k in repairs because that dumb old dpf. Sold that and swore to never get an 08-10 model year truck. New def system that I ran with the company in a 2013 t660 with my uncle until I was able to buy a new truck and trailer again an isx15 450 hp 10 speed never found out the ratio but governed at 65 and it's fuel mpg at times hit 9,8, and the lowest 7 on bad days otherwise it's at 200k in one year since he got it zero repairs but it's a bit too tight for me because my sons go along with me and one takes his weights with him to stay buff since he's a varsity football player and he needs room. And I like the t680 and fuel mileage is key because I plan on adding 5-7 trucks in the next for years eventually multiplying those numbers by 5 by retirement to pass on to my kids. My goal is with a t680 to stay over 7 mpg all the time and that's why I ask for light weight options because my oldest son adds 400 pounds to the trucks with his weights and his 180 pound body. Crazy kid runs around the truck stop for half an hour before I can drive. But a big fridge is key because he keeps me eating healthy food and it helped me drop from 210 to 190 but I'm not muscular and ripped like him though space and lightweight is a necessity and how big is your fridge?

ORAM .What Wheelbase you have on you 680
-
Its not too big, its actually little. Maybe couple cubic feet.( Ill make a photo a bit later.Simranjit Thanks this.

2 days of healthy food..maybe 3......A maniac myself too, and perfect size for me. Volvo's fridge was bigger. (770)
227". Part of the aggressive fuel saving, but would not have space for Tripac. -
I used to own a volvo back in 1995 that I sold in 2002. Great truck but had a lot brake problems. Once the brakes gave way while I was going downhill on I 8 with a load of tomatoes at 80,000 lbs but it was 2 in the morning and I was the only one on the highway. I had a choice to go for it or smash it into the guard rails to stop the truck. I just said on the cb radio to move out my brakes aren't working kept honking the horn all the way downhill and then the brakes started working. Thank god they did. Next exit I pulled it out at a mechanic shop and when he checked he said your a very lucky man that you survived. I forgot what part he said had completely worn out. But the performance ride and fridge of that truck were unbeatable. Cat 3406E I believe it was 425 or 435 and a 13 speed.

Installed Dual Dynamics Crossfire. Oram is lucky, he doesn't need such an achievement of engineering. View attachment 63873
Grijon Thanks this. -
I am just a poor lazy autoparts shipper. I can not afford so many fancy wheels.

That that truck was just a rebadged GMC truck. They started to build real Volvos in 1998. No problem with brakes.deming807 Thanks this.
