I usually don't roll-over my hours because I'm mainly running three days out and home for four...
But...Say you have 65 hours in....Shut down...And the next day you recap...What was your 8th day is now out of the recap...Say that day was "10" (in this example)....So now you gained 10 hours to run....So now your "65" is 55 and you have 15 hours left instead of 5.....
Now If I'm not mistaken on this...
You only need a "34" if you exceed 70 hours in 8 days.....
No place to park and out of hours

Let's say the 8th day was one of those really bad days where you only ended up logging 2 hours on duty due to detention or what have you...now you have a total of seven. You can make your drop by noon but then you will be out of hours.
You can then decide to do an entire restart with the 34 hour break making sure not to start again until after the second 5am or can you just go off duty until midnight if you will re-coop another 14 with the new recap at midnight?
I am still trying to get this complicated process down and appreciate your input...I feel a bit like Eliza Doolittle.

Now if I am starting to grasp the concept it appears to me that if I were using paper logs and made an error in my calculations and logged on at midnight at my present location and didn't factor in that my time frames are suppose to be based on my home location I could go back and "alter" my log on-duty time to reflect what I wanted to say originally...but if I am using an electronic log then I am going to have to be more conscientious regarding the exactness of my inputs or run the risk of errors that will require detailed addendums for clarification. Both allow me to rectify my mistake but one is more scrutinized than the other. Am I correct in this assumption?
As far as how the E-log impacts performance or an effective use of hours I can see there would be some issues pertaining to planning but the hours never change, the work never changes and the requirements do not change...
I could see where being creative with the E-log and understanding the nuances of use would be important. An online video talks about when you log on-duty the E-log will back log 15 minutes to show PTI. If you log on-duty right at 10 hours of SB time then the E-log will back you 15 minutes showing you have only done 9:45 of SB; does anyone know if this is true?
And when I say being creative I am not suggesting anything unethical or illegal...you can work with in the boundaries and still have a little chalk on your cleats. Knowing the rules and knowing the system allows a person to know how far and how hard pushing is accepted.
I can see using E-logs would be harder for planing and execution but there is no going back...this is the future and the mandate is coming.
Being angry about the future doesn't alter the trajectory.

Btw...Look who are pushing for EOBRs.....
Follow the money and the agendas..... -
if drivers wake up and take personal responsibility for their actions, if they demand respect as a profession, if they stand up as men, it wont have to happen
but too many repeat these defeatist lines and they sign on to elog companies, and because they have capitulated, the want and expect other drives to follow suit
i left a mega because they wanted elogs, got my own truck and never been happier
life is about choices, you either choose to be governed and dictated to, or you stand up and demand your rights as a human being in a land of liberty
what does liberty mean? the ability to move freely without hinderance
that is not the direction trucking is going for the drivers and its high time we take corrective action if we love this industry as we say we doWorking Class Patriot Thanks this. -

You're offering a false analogy with this attempt to show Fords rational for their statement (a subjective desire to sell their product based solely on their interpretation of said product) is equal to my statement which only relays the intention as publicly reported; see link.

I am only stating the obvious sans judgement as to if it is a positive or negative...doesn't matter if it is unavoidable. Kind of like growing older, not liking the reality won't turn back the clock.
As for who is "pushing the agenda", surely you are not suggesting that public safety concerns and ensuring adherence to the regulations is some nefarious corporate power grab.
