Howdy folks, I'm new to the trucking gig, and am looking for a good company to start with. I would like to work for a company with fast peterbilts and long hauls ( more miles ). I got a buddy with a couple of trucks said he could get me in the door, and pay me 20 cents a mile. That seems fair enough but he runs stuff northeast and I heard that's a nightmare. I don't mind hauling reefers or dry box, or a gas tanker.. ( I got hazmat) . Any recommendations would be great.. Thanks!!! :biggrin_25525:

Depends on where you live. Put your location on the profile.

Tyson Foods has 70 mph trucks. Those fast trucks put you back on the market real fast looking for a non-trucking job.

I figure 20cpm is good. If I can run 4000 miles a week that's $800! And I'll check into Abilene xpress.

Put that tanker/hazmat to work for you and make over a grand a week.

U can't run 4000 legally as a solo driver, plus 800 isn't alot of money, , especially after it's taxed unless he is paying u as a Independent Contractor.

Look into the oilfield too they always need drivers. You can get paid hourly and make good money. Just remember work hard , get paid.

Here's some good high paying companies & they all hire new CDL grads:

    SVTN
    Trimac
    Schneider Bulk
    CTL Transportation
    Superior Carriers
    Melton Truck Lines
    System Transport

If pay isn't a top priority and you want coast to coast reefer as a solo driver, look at Navajo.

    mje Thanks this.

Even Swift starts you at .25 cpm.
    After a year it's about 25% more.

And like someone said, you can't drive 4000 miles per week legally, or safely.

Your buddy is not so friendly if he would use you in this way.

    mje Thanks this.
