Started the day out by breaking down with a bad leveling valve. Once I finally found someone that was willing to come out it took forever to find the right part.
After I finally get fixed I show up at Kraft in Champaign,Il to deliver my load of pallets and they tell me to drop it in the lot and take an empty trailer. Only problem is I only have one trailer so I told them I can't do that it is supposed to be a live unload. It is after 5pm on Friday and the only person still at the broker is completely useless. What exactly do you guys suggest? The receiver said they have no idea when the trailer would get unloaded and for now they refused the load unless I want to drop.
Not a good day

LS-JAX is a really bad agency who has a habit of booking drop and hook freight for LS trucks on outside carriers because they're greedy. They'll tempt broker carriers with rates around $3 a mile on that stuff too. They've been called out on it many times. Even corporate knows they do it. It's best to not do any business with bad characters like that. I booked a load from JAX one time a couple of years ago. That was the last. Trailer sat at a home depot dc in mccalla, al over the weekend and I bobtailed home. I feel very lucky we did wrangle another $500 or so for it but most times you will get nothing in a case like that. You are either going to have to bribe someone at Kraft or just SOL. Would never work with that broker again. The worst are the ones who won't answer an urgent call after hours on weekends they are in the wrong business.

The broker was Transcorr and strangely enough I loaded the load in McCalla,Al. Kraft here flat out said it will be early next week before the trailer gets unloaded and I am 250 miles from home so 500 miles round trip. Just ticks me off because the next load was paying me $1500 to go right to the town I live in.

A load of pallets can't take long to unload,I would see about unloading them.

Set them out in the lot. Have them sign the bills and off you go

Yeah I had 180 bobtail miles home, then back down 360 total. You lose out sometimes I know it sucks when it happens. Everyone has been there if they haven't they will go there eventually, that's trucking. If I couldn't get someone to offload it for $20-50 I'd call and cancel on that reload then bobtail home. And try to get something extra out of transcorr on monday. If it's anything at all it will probably be an insult. Make that mental note - they will cry uncle on your next "take it or leave it" non-negotiable "option" if they call on your posted truck. You're in a decent spot for a reload make whoever is next in line pay for the mishap. Think of it as someone paying for extra deadhead, make it up on the next two loads. Or just keep on doing what you've been doing. You'll make it up at years end it won't even be a hiccup. I remember deadheading 1,100 miles empty one time, not only because rates were poor, but my truck was giving me problems as well which was my main concern. It hurt a lot. After several weeks I forgot all about it. In the big picture it ain't gonna break ya once in a while.
