Keep working on it and it will happen. I struggled a lot backing doubles and then one day it just fell in to place. If you don't give up you'll get it. Make small corrections early. Go slowly. Get out and look.

I have watched people backing at truckstops who have real difficulty they are usually oversteering the thing. A short truck with a long trailer is easier to back than a long truck with a short trailer. We had one guy apply with us had his licence for 5 years had been OTR for 4 of those years he couldn't back up to save his soul. Took him out into the country and had him back around corners, he had a choice do it right or figure out how he was going to get the trailer out of the ditch. He learned, backing is just like driving around a corner only difference you are moving the opposite direction

Just think of it like your backing a bus and the tractor -is- the front wheels.

Well ####... Never thought of it that way. Gonna have to try that mentality just to see how badly I screw it up LOL. Or it might even work :)

actually it is like backing a 4 WD tractor with a air seeder, a btrain is like the tractor air seeder and a fertilizer tank to boot.

I too had alot of experience pulling horse trailers, goose neck flat beds and work trailers. I stopped using the rearview or looking over my right shoulder as soon as I started contemplating getting a CDL, even when I wasn't hooked to anything. That is what you have to get over and relearn backing only using the side mirrors.
