Hi, I'm a CDL student (testing for my CDL this week and expect to pass) and am looking at these 3 companies for my first trucking job. Any feedback between the 3 as far as good companies to work for, home time, and average pay? I have a family so I want to stay regional and have regular home time. I'm also considering oilfield trucking, as long as I can get a position with regular home time. Willing to fly out for that type of position. Any feedback is welcome. Thanks
Neil

Knowing where home is would be helpful. Oilfield trucking is right some and wrong for others, depending on your work ethic and what you'll tolerate and for how long. Averitt you'll want to avoid their "truckload" division if they still offer it. TMC I've worked for years ago and liked it there. It was right for me at the time. They had one of the best weekend home-time planning systems I've ever worked with. But TMC (and flatbedding in general) is not for everybody either.
Plenty of mixed reviews on Roehl lately, it seems. Depends on the division you're on and your home location I suppose.acsmith937 Thanks this. -

TMC is great. if ya work hard you will make 800-1200 a week. Home weekly, but if u stay out 2 weeks you get better freight.

Thanks-- Southwest Ohio is home. I have a very strong work ethic-- was a roofer for over 2 decades and just did 3 years in the Army. I'm 42 and changing careers.

Hi, home is Southwest Ohio.

Go to the section that says "motor carrier questions". They have specific pages for TMC, Roehl, and Averitt. Plenty of info on there. I believe there is an oilfield section on here as well.

Look at Superior Carriers in Cincinnati. Probably make thousands more per year than with the other companies you listed. TMC is good for paychecks though.
