Hi Im new to this forum and was wondering if anyone has experience with live floors/walking floors. I am asking because a buddy of mine wants me to go in with him on one and haul mulch for storm related debris. It pays 1.75per yard and I figure I could get maybe a 80 yarder. The other option I have is to use and end dump trailer. The job is away from home (Georgia) so I will have hotel stay involved as well. Any thoughts on this investment would be great. There is 350000 yards of material so I figure it should take me about 3 weeks to a month to finish this if I get a BIG TRAILER. Just simple math the money looks good, but that's a big investment for me as well!!

    Thanks
    Will

What kind of material are you talking about? Walking floors are great if it's, say, mulch... not so much if it's soil.

They wont allow frameless. I figure I can make about 9 runs. They need more trucks if you know anyone with them let me know I can put them in contact with my friend. He got the contract.

Screw the walking floor and get an end dump it gives you more options when that job is done plus faster to unload and no sweeping the trailer.also walking floors have more cubic yards but youll probably be overweight if you filled it as far as frameless if your dumping in a landfill i'd go with a full framed dump both axles stay on the ground which makes it a little more stable.

One thing about walking floors against a tipper is the speed of unload which with a 40ftr W/F with about 75 cube of saw dust can take me up to 45 mins to drop as opposed to five in a tipper. If u have the curtain it sweeps itself mostly clean but yeah it's a lOng unload. It just has niche benefits like you can put more material In
A smaller space as it's pushes out higher and. U can reverse them so u can drop half loads and back the rest in to get weight over drives but these are really niche type pro's that wouldn't really apply to your job so I'm with everyone else in saying a tipper is the way to go.
