Yeah Jerry is all over the place out there, and works for many companies. Also see that Louie comedian guy often

Only one company wants a refresher, and that's the autoshift one.

practice makes perfect, eventually it will become second nature and you will not even think about it anymore. use the tach and the sound of the engine to guide you, and trust your gut. gut wins 99.99% of the time good luck

Two words: Muscle memory. After you've shifted on the road a few thousand times, you won't even think about it. Your ears will hear the engine, your butt will feel the vibration. Your truck talks to you. Your feet and hands do their thing, and you find you are in the right gear. Meanwhile, your brain is concentrating on that four wheeler whose driver appears to have a death wish...

As a newbie myself.. I understand taking the easy out and going with an automatic...
But, personally i would resist that temptation... I feel it would limit your choices.. wnich I am never in favor of...
If you are not happy at the company with automatics... what happens when the company you are I terested doesnt have them... you will be right back to needing to learn to clutch and shift...
I know it feels complicated and hard rignt now... but remember.. at one time in your life so was tying your shoes... and you mastered that..
Dont sell yourself short.. -
I don't know, I've never experienced any tiring effects. Nevertheless, after awhile everything should become automatic to you, as you should eventually be able to do it without even thinking about it. Hell, I don't even use a clutch to up shift or downshift. I only use a clutch when stopping or taking off. I also don't watch my RPMs or speed as I can feel when I need to up shift or down shift and automatically feel how fast I'm going to get in the right gear for the speed I'm traveling, but I've been doing this for awhile.BigRigCT Thanks this.

I haven't ever put thought into shifting since I first learned. Don't even realize it most the time
