I passed pretrip and skills back in october, and then failed the driving portion. i tried to save money to buy more driving practice hours, but didnt have the money to buy more than 2 hours in a pay period.(i get paid every two weeks, they charge $60/hr for practice) I failed the driving portion a second time.now, after getting my tax return and taking care of other debt I have saved for a few practice hours and will try the test a 3rd time. My question is, since I passed skills and pretrip a few months ago, if I pass the driving portion in April will the fact that I passed these portions of the test months apart make it more difficult to get a job?
effect of passing skills, pretrip, driving portion of the CDL test at different times

Doubt it,normally have to do all 3 at same time
Nightwind8830 Thanks this. -
Don't think so but a good question. When I was fresh out with a CDL the companies I called just asked where I got my CDL, made sure it was the accredited 150 hour program (some are only 120 or something like that).
You should be good since companies are just interested in the paper, they know you know nothing about trucking and they will train you. If there is any question, just say "Well I should be a better, safer driver since the school took the time to make sure I was doing everything absolutely correct rather than just rushing me through."Puppage and Nightwind8830 Thank this. -
I did do all 3 at the same time initially. saving $$ for practice hours ,amongst other things,is what delayed things.

Well, different states do it differently. for example, here in Mass., you can pass sections and go back to finish. it is difficult to get it all done in 90 minutes, trust me. Meanwhile in CT., y'all have to pass it all in 90 minutes, because if you do not, you have to start from scratch the next time. Any who, i know of only one person ever who did it all the first time, most of us usually takes two or three times. Me, i did it twice and done. So, no it is not a big issue at all. The Troopers are very good about it, and can usually tell off the bat who is serious and who is not. Always watch your mirrors during the test, take your time, and do it safely, and you should have no issues at all. good luck and see you on the road

thanks. ill be happy to get it done and escape my cubicle for ever.

I think you will fine.. theh usually just want to know you have a CDL and if the school you went to is accredited...
Just hang in there.. it doesnt matter if you didn't pass the first time or not... you obviously have determination..Davem3TF and Nightwind8830 Thank this. -
