Me im a little different. Im doing this job because I choose to and I also want to be my own boss lol with the lease im still under there eye but I also choose when I run and how much. Im taking a week off right now and if I was company I could not do this. But on the other hand if you are your own boss you need to push your self hard just like company, iv not done this yet as im still trying to figure stuff out. But after this week im going to start pushing myself. Or I may have to fire me lol

you take a week off and don't get a check for next 2 weeks
you will revisit the freedom of a lease again

I understand any money is better then no money.............for a while
I was collecting $225/week unemployment before Trans Am

Good morning everyone. Passport, once again your pictures are beautiful! I had forgotten about the storage lockers that were available to drivers at the terminals. The King never used them. When he started with the company the training period was much longer than what it is now. When he was issued his truck he was more than ready to come home for a couple of days rather than stay out.
I think eventually they will wake you up in the middle of the night and eventually you will be asked to do swaps, krazyhorsechick. TransAm is in the business of moving freight, it doesn't matter to them if it moves in a company truck or a lease truck. You can turn it down and a company driver can not ....but be prepared to be on the naughty list if you turn down too many. They have a long memory and they are in control of your livelihood. A company driver has paid vacation available to him, the King took off 2 weeks a year, and we never had a problem if we needed extra time off at home. The difference is that a company driver doesn't have to make a truck payment while they are at home. A company driver does not have to worry about truck maintenance or repairs, it doesn't come out of his pocket. A good portion of a company driver's pay is per diem and tax free.... without having to keep all of the records. The chance to make more money as a lease driver is there.....but will everything go perfectly with no breakdowns, shutdowns for weather, no time off and good loads? It's like buying a lottery ticket.....you may win and you may not.

I went to Big Springs, Ne. Friday night to get a pm for the truck and the APU and guess what the mechanic F$#@ed my APU now I am sitting in Detroit, Mi. at a hotel over night cause that mechanic poured oil in the wrong way screwed it all up right now just in parts and 1 1/2 labor the bill is $530. Trans Am said they will call Bosselmans corporate to get this figured out but I am very upset. i have been sleeping in the truck in this 20-30 degree nights but I needed one night where I can't see my breathe. I went back in after that mech. was done and he tried to get it started again but gave up after 15 minutes and said he had no idea what he was doing with an APU. F my life I better not end up paying for this right now the estimate is at $850 and that is if this is all the work that needs to be done. Sorry for ranting but man I am so mad.

    Be safe out there
