Here's the deal. I'm on 2 year deferred probation in Texas for class A misdemeanor insurance fraud. I want to get my hazmat and I know there is an intensive background check done for this. I looked up the disqualifying crimes for the background check, and it only mentions FELONY convictions. I did not see ANYTHING mentioned about misdemeanors of any kind. Would any of you know if my situation would disqualify me before I spend my money and time on obtaining my hazmat? I know some of you are going to get on here and babble stuff off just for the sake of doing it, but please respond if you have any insight or any suggestions on who I may ask. Maybe the DPS?

    Thanks!

I have a felony that's 10yrs old. And I went to the TSA Website and found the list of disqualifying convictions. I qualified for my TSA card. You should be able to get one. It's like 85.00 non refundable. Good luck to driver.

That's because they are not disqualifying events, only certain felonies as listed.

Things really changed after 911. And we are all paying the price. Back ground checks for a truck driver REALLY. TSA cards. Port cards. It's out of control.

Yep, because a terrorist is going to go through all of that stuff to do his thing. Smoke and mirrors for legislators to make it look like they are doing something, with the benefit of additional revenue.

It was ok to sell Coke in 1982 as long as you didn't get caught!

if you burned your house down and collected insurance im sure that would raise some red flags, but then im guessing you would have an arson charge too
