I have a 2007 KW T600 with an ISX 565 pre emission. The problem I am having is that when it is cold "mostly below 35 degrees" my exhaust temp will shoot up between 900 to 1000 degrees on flat ground with only 10 lbs of boost. When I get to a hill the max it will boost is only 25 and the exhaust temp remains high. When it does this I have no power and my fuel mileage suffers greatly. When it is warm out it runs great. I have no fault codes at all either. I have replaced the boost pressure sensor, exhaust pressure sensor, and the intake temp sensor and its still acting up. I've talked to Cummins and they seem clueless at what to do next. I was just curious if anybody else has had this issue before because I am tired at throwing sensors at it.
ISX 565 Low Boost Pressure and High Exhaust Temps when cold

Egr valve sticking?

Ya, there is not a DPF. Its an 06' model year engine. Just a variable vain turbo and a EGR valve. I have thought about the turbo actuator too, but would ambient air temp have affect that at all? Like I said if its warm out the truck runs great, when it gets cold is when it acts up. It does not smoke and there is no codes for it either so I am not sure if its the EGR valve or not. I am going to check all the the tubing going to the air to air. Maybe I have a cold weather leak. Thanks for your input!

Egr valve is clogged which is why your seeing low boost i have a isx same thing happened on mine and check engine light didnt come on

Egr valve clogged would cause high egt too? I have been fighting this same issue with a CM870 since back in october when it starting getting cold here in New England. No one can seem to figure it out after numerous sensors, turbo,CAC etc...

Check for boost leaks. High EGTs could be also the result of that. I would ask Cummins to perform a pressure test. Could be cracked air-to-air or any of the clamps or hoses. To make sure it's not an EGR related issue, do an EGR disconnect, it would only do you good.

educate me on going bigger with the exhaust, on the single exhauster system. why, why not? I'm currently running 5 inch pipe on the six with vgt turbo. Should I stay with 5 inch or go bigger, to 6 or 7 inch?
Thank you. -
