Holding the Lane

are you inquiring because you were saluted as being number 1? man you will have that happen so many times that you will lose count.reads to me as if you played it safe and avoided any possible accident. Don't worry about it. No need to second guess yourself considering everyone kept rolling. Good job of maintaining.

 

Holding your lane was the right thing to do you had the right of way. Merging traffic must yield if not let them eat a little shoulder. as far as getting the Bird get used to it.

 

Merging traffic Must YEILD, lane-control is key, if you jump into the hammer lane and cause an accident its on you....Improper Lane Change. The other car knew you had lane control and was suppose to yield the right of way to you. If I can see that the other vehicle is attempting to merge and I can safely move over without obstructing the flow of traffic in the hammer-lane (Governed trk) that's what I do. If I cant I hold the lane.......

 

Car was in your blind spot.I would have waited till I seen that car then proceeded to get over.But no damage done so that's the main thing.Or just slow way down with blinker on,he would have gotton the message.

 

In reality it's the person merging responsibility to adjust their speed to merge on the highway. They could have slowed and came on behind you.
You did a safe thing slowing so they could get on.

 

I still second guess and i have just about been in and/or seen it all it seems. it is part of your job to self evaluate. soon enough,reading the other drivers will happen so instantaneously,thus your reactions, that you'll not even realize that you are doing it and driving accordingly.make sense? if not,it will.

everything is cool and you are posting about it now.go buy a beer and reflect from the cab of your truck. in the morning work the beer off by doing your exercises.I strapped down a load this evening and then out ran the 15 year old son of the guy that loaded me.I just drank a cold beer and reflected upon your post.see what i mean?

*edited to add that i have been pulling permitted wide/long loads the past few weeks hence the strapping down as opposed to my regular dump pulling.i have been doing lots of reevaluating the past few weeks.I am limited at times to my lane usage and get caught up in some stupid sheeeeeeeeeit from other drivers NOT paying attention.UNREAL the idiots among us.oh well.keeps one on their toes and the horn-

 

I have questioned this a couple times myself. I read something on another thread that really helped me. Those cars entering the highway have brake and accelerator petals also. Let them use them. I hold my lane now, slow down alittle if needed but if not, they can speed up or brake as needed....

 

I always return the one-finger salute with a smile and a wave. And when I see the same car pulled over by the cops a little further down the road because they're still driving like an idiot I'll still be smiling and waving.

I generally try to be the "nice guy" and switch a lane over if traffic permits me to do so but I'm not going to risk my license, my truck or my life just to make sure the other guy who ignored the giant red triangular sign can make it onto the highway.
