Then good chance its the turbo. Pull off air intake hose - the one coming from your air filters - and check for excess play in and out, as well as contact with the housing. Side to side play os acceptable. Also check for oil on the outlet, but that might be on the exhaust side.

Pulled engine apart to do inframe, rod bearings on 2 cylinders in a bad way. Lots of aluminum flakes in bottom of oil container also.

Turbo bearings are not aluminum so why would aluminum in the oil make you think the turbo is going?

Yes, not only that but I had just put a new turbo on a month ago, and had several posts regarding that, but I wasn't going to point it out, I think he was only trying to help. The inframe has now turned into an out of frame after we discovered crank has a 12 thou bend.

Glad you caught it before it took out a main bearing, but sorry to hear it's going to be down that much longer.

    04 LowMax Thanks this.

Bright side is .... With it being done out of frame and the block is decked and line bored, you are starting fresh with nice flat true surfaces.
It may cost more but you will have a better end result regarding longevity . If it is done properly that is. 😊

If the thrust bearing goes, the compressor wheel will make contact with the housing, both are made of aluminum.
