I always have the worst luck when i come to markham. Got here at 9am and was
supposed to get loaded for ohio at 3pm. Got to the shipper just to find out load was canceled. Back to the terminal i go. Got another dispatch that doesn't load till monday morning. Love spending my weekends here.

I just go get a room over at the Best Western and enjoy the down time. I don't hang out at the terminal. Drivers room is too small and is always crowded. First one to the tv remote gets to control the tv. Showers are not so great there either.

Did they finally reinstate direct bill at the hotel there? They just "refurbished" the shower rooms a little over a year ago. I am under the rack in N Chicago as I type this. That will be twice this week I did a Markham drive by.

This dedicated is gravy but it sure is boring doing the same run all the time. They had 3 California loads sitting on the yard in High Point Thursday. Things are picking up.

Im not sure about the direct bill. I just rather stay in the truck. Hotels here are shady. A driver from my terminal got bedbugs while staying there. Another one got the outside drive tires stolen off the truck while there. Refurbished shower rooms, thats a joke. The shower door fell off on me yesterday when i was in there. On the bright side, at least they have a couple of good places to eat here.

I hear you about dedicated being boring. I ran alot of dedicated out to texas and back. Boring is an understatement.

Not loading until Monday I would be tempted to bobtail to Kankakee and try that Hotel. I bet it's nicer.

Nope. The Economy Inn in Kankakee is a dump and a half. According to the new driver handbook I got yesterday, we also have an account at the Garden Inn, which I assume is the Hilton Garden Inn by Walmart. Every time I've needed a room though, I get directed to the Economy.

Directed by who, your home terminal?

I was thinking that Garden Inn and Walmart. I have stayed at hotels outside the company network many times and been reimbursed. I figure if I can find one under $80 per night they save money over idling 24 hours. I don't abuse it and only get a room when I have been out a while and either need to reset or get hung out like ctv.

Kankakee. Whenever I need a hotel I call the terminal with the account to check because occasionally they change.

I do too. Thanks for the heads up. If I ever have to call them I will specify that Hilton. If the other place is a dump they probably keep that one for visiting dignitaries. It would be good right next to Walmart.

I never knew they quit the direct bill thing. Every time I have been to Markham I just went over to the Best Western and got a room. The desk clerk just has me sign a piece of paper saying who authorized it.

I have not stayed at that mom and pop one over on 159th in almost two years. It was like a Days Inn or something last time I stayed there. I was not all that impressed. I have not had any issues at the Best Western. Seems pretty clean.
