I'm with PB you're a journey man welder and your qualified to be a crac sup. Go ahead knock yourself out. No I'm not "angry" just stating FACTS in the shopall you are expected to do is breathe and be slightly helpful and not get in the way. If you think the ir going to pay you journey man wages to do that in a non revenue situation you may want to bring me some of what you're snorting.

No snorting for me, eh? I'm subject to random.:biggrin_25512:

I have yet to work oilfield, but have done similar disciplines such as landscaping, sand, soil & gravel, plus HEO. I admit that shop time was / is not my favourite activity. With the right group of guys & gals, it enhances camaraderie, team-building skills, and fosters co-operation. Skills that bode well when one moves up to Frac Super.

Plus, consider this. If the oilfield carrier had the more mundane tasks of oil / filter / lube, washing and remove / replace completed by a JourneyPerson or Red Seal, think about their rate of pay. Then think how much the boss would have to lower your pay rate or bonus, resulting in a lower take-home for the Field Tech / Driver.

It would be like a Brain Surgeon performing the tasks of an Orderly. Both occupations have my respect, but just how cost-effective is this practice? How much coin would be available to pay the RN's plus other colleagues?

If this guy had any experience as a bona fide frac supervisor, he would'nt have needed to ask his original question. You wann'be a frac supe and make $200K/year? Get in line with the the 10-20 guys in every shop, with 5-10 years experience, all of whom be perfectly qualified to do the job...and you'd perfectly understand why shop time is not valued the same way as time on location, actually generating revenue for your employer.

Spring time, huh? Who's getting hooked up with jobs? Changing direction?

New guys, where you at? Who's hiring? Share the news.

New job for me, better rotation, more time off, same coin, new equipment, more responsibility and just loving it so far.

Its totally great to see somebody who's so happy with no complaints with their job. Sometimes, I get so caught up with the politics that I forget
about the reason I got into this in the first place. Thanks for reminding me northboundhound!

Still in coiled tubing. Working with the best crew I've ever seen so far. Really impressed with everything about the job, equipment, company, and it fits what I've been looking for. Day rate is more than before but we're slightly less busier, which is a good compromise. Hoping for stability for a few years now.

Pretty much amazed at where I'm at, and how things have progressed. Training for promotion, and a couple small hoops I have to jump through to get there. Doing the heavy haul with the rig. Jeep and booster, oversized, permits and pilot cars, on/off road and all the yin yang. Loving it and enjoying patch life.

Travel the world (well, AB & northern BC) and live the dream!

Got hired by a lease owner from Hollow River out of Elk Point AB. Few friends of mine already running for them for more then a year and liking it so far. Starting my safety courses on the 20th., followed by orientation and infield training right after that. Will be running the 10-5 schedule for now. Rented a room in Elk Point for the time being, will be relocating my wife and kids from Montreal to Lloydminster around July if everything goes well and I like the job.
