If I had ten years experience I wouldn't need to be in Texas. I could work ltl in jersey or chitown and make more than I do now. But I vac truck and make around 70. I got lucky to get hired on with less than a year.
If I had a family I doubt I would want to move.
Got my foot in the door!!!!

I have to say the main reason 10 year veterans are not flocking to the oilfield is because they are usually overweight and out of shape. Not all but look around at truck stops. The food is killing drivers! Not all are that way but you have to agree its a big portion! I have talked to several OTR veterans and they are so set in their ways 1000 to 1500 gross per week is just fine. When I tell them about walking up 20 feet of stairs and hooking up 4 inch hoses that weight 40 pounds I usually get "that's too much work"
i do slightly agree that 50,000 a year is livable. Nothing wrong with living within your means at 40k to 50k a year. I'm just not happy at that salary range.
Those drivers making 70k to 80k a year and living on the road isn't terrible.
The big money is here you just need to put in 100 hours a week to get it. Working 12 hour shifts 5 days a week or 70 hours and then a 24 hour reset isn't going to do it. I'm making 6 figures in northeast colorado. I am not exaggerating.
oilfield is not for everyone . You have to be in decent shape to be out here. Drivers have come off OTR and lasted a week, some have even had strokes and heart attacks from trying to pop caffeine pills to work a 24 to 48 hour shift -
Remote areas and lack of talent pool to fill all the positions. How many 10 year veterans are willing to drop everything and move out to the middle of the desert? The ones who are willing, pretty much already have.

Well its been about a week after a good interview where they offered me a job. Now waiting for my physical AGAIN and drug screen. I'm a little worried because my blood pressure is right at about 138/78 I know max limit is 140/90 will a company hire you if your over 140/90? Because my blood pressure jumps up and down and I do smoke quite a bit of cigarettes but I'm goin with Cudd as a frac equipment operator. I'm cutting down and eating a little better just nervous. Theys is a good gig and I don't want to delay or be unqualified to work there

If you can stand the flavor ( I like it, but my husband, with the high BP can't stand it) Camomile tea, with a little cinnamon. errr Garlic also have a side effect of helping to lower the BP, but I wouldn't suggest it in a tea...
Oh and flirt with the nurse...lol even if she's old and not pretty....Flirting will take your mind off of the high BP, plus their IS a "white coat" effect that can cause your BP to be higher, specially if you are worried about it. Honest.
Other than cheating and doubling up on any med's you already have ( not really a good idea) I DO have one other suggestion, though it might be really hard to do, depending on your situation...IF you can get to the doctors to have your physical done...in under an hour after wards....have sex with the spouse... relaxing and it will lower the BP. ....Just saying. -
Large amounts of honey and cinnamon has been proven to lower bp I take them both it did good for me no coffee a few hours before the exam. No soda don't eat. The honey and cinnamon is not a fast cure. I mix them together. It makes a good pick me up also

Not to mention that it's the nurse who will take the BP reading. She can write whatever she wants on the chart; nobody double-checks it.
