Ok, one more question. My son will (presumably) get his CDL next week the day after he turns 21. Should he wait or will companies accept his application now for review? His school timed his training so he'd turn 21 the week they issue licenses.

He can apply now. He may want to call the recruiters after applying to let them know he is turning 21. They could possibly miss that info very easily.

I was 17 when I joined the Army on the delayed entry program. I'd wait and time the applications. Sending them early they might get buried. Most schools have hiring events.

Yep... signed my DEP paperwork 10 days after I turned 17. Turned 18 in BCT.... that was rather unfortunate for me.
