When we strike, we strike for the good of the entire nation. Not out of greed. The farmers of this country produce many of the goods that we haul to the stores everyday. I live next to a dairy farm and my father-in-law is also a dairy farmer. My father-in-law earns 64 cents per gallon of milk that his cows produce. At the same time, we are paying $4.50 a gallon at the stores. To raise the cows for milking, he farms with diesel tractors. He is paying $4.09 a gallon just like we are. If we strike and get big oils attention, we can lower our overhead, and therefore the prices at the stores begin to drop, which in turn, helps the entire country. This isn't a greed thing on part of the truck drivers, it's our way of trying to help everyone.

I assume he meant we cant just strike and protest every thing
Staying focused on one industry is the best way to get the message out

My father in law is a corn/bean/hog farmer and he too has to pay the high fuel costs, but you forgot one thing. They don't pay the same price for fuel we do, its called "off road fuel". I for one will not strike for someone else, instead I am trying to figure out ways to stay ahead of the game. Farmers income is controlled by the stock market of what corn, bean, etc . etc. is worth. There are more than enough farmers out there to strike if it is so bad so why do we need to strike for them?

EXACTLY!!!!! Why protest for someone else, who is out there making money themselves why we sit at home not making a dime?

I am against striking for fuel prices, simpily because I dont' belive it will do a darn thing, however if it does, more power to you and I was wrong!

Striking for cheap freight costs I already do every day!

My god it is really getting deep in here..Granted they do not pay as much for fuel...But guess what pretty darn close....It is affecting them as well to say other wise any different is false

No it needs to be everyone involved right down to the home owner that is on a fixed income...This effects everyone.

Price of oil goes up and the price of everything else follows and wages remain the same..So how do people get ahead on that note?

With your thinking and no disrespect but nothing gets done that way and the country falls back even more

That's exactly the point I was after. He's been getting paid the same amount for the last 5 years, but we, as consumers, are expected to shell out more and more for everything, not just fuel. I cannot understand how you expect farmers to strike? If they stop milking their cows, they will get sick and die. If they milk them but don't ship it, they will soon run out of storage and the milk will spoil. I just wanted to make sure that I was clear on the fact that I am in this to help the country, not just myself.
As far as the cheap freight thing goes, I totally agree, if you are in the position to be able to turn down a load, I say absolutely, do it.

Yes thats a good point with valid evidence backing your statement
But again I say this is not a drive to over throw the government, and fix every problem there is
Lets save our butts first then we can work on the other stuff

That is a valid point, I, for one, am not attempting to overthrow the government. I do believe that by saving "our butts" the rest will come into place. That's kind of been my point from the begining(even if it didn't come out that way). I think we're headed in the same direction, Baack.
