well i just recently finished my school and i have my orientation date set. i know how all companies in all fields are in business for the most production for less cost. what i would like to know is? how much could or should i ask for in regards to my cpm? or home time or miles by the way im going with werner! and i know i know but i do believe its the person not the company , i have no prior drivings exp,but i am willing to put the work in. with saying that what is a realistic expectation of what i can get out of them

A dirty abandonned truck that you might have to go pick up. about 2500 miles a week hopefully at least .30pm. Whatever you do...... Put in your full Year if you can, don't get any tickets and after 52 weeks the light at the end of the tunnel will shine bright with all your options.:biggrin_25525:

Being a new driver without exp. your going to get what they give you. they will tell you what they are going to pay you, how many miles your going to drive and when your going to go home. If they are a good company and you move there freight and meet there dead lines and keep there truck upright and in one piece it will get better sooner then you think.

Money on the road will depend on what you want to eat, what you can tolerate eating. You can get a couple of hotdogs for $2.50 or less at most truck stops, a burger for about the same. But step foot into a restaurant or even a fast-food joint and you'll pay about 25% more than you would at a "civilian" establishment, if not more. Most TS's have buffets available for roughly $10 (if you include beverage) -- even one of these per day and you've spent $70 in a week. Their only advantage is that the food is already prepared (more or less) and you don't have to wait for it. Get in, eat, go to the restroom and barf, and you're back in your truck and rolling.

If you can tolerate PB&J sammies most of the time, you can eat pretty cheaply. Or bring along canned meats that don't need refrigeration, dry sausages, hard cheeses and other hard-on-the-arteries foods, along with fruits and veg. You can usually snag a couple of bananas for a buck at most TS's, some have apples that are worth eating but most I've sampled were mealy and inedible.

As for bathroom breaks: Take along a water bottle. Avoid coffee and sodas, and drink the water sparingly. Refill the water bottle each time you stop or as needed. But when you gotta go, you gotta go. A pilot's guideline serves well for truckers: "Never pass up the opportunity to fuel or use the bathroom."
