Whatever your opinion may be about the subject, drivers that make statements on how they "forget" or just plain ignore items like proper tie down in a public forum are just plain dumb.
As for Dodge 2500's and 3500's pulling 53' wedges with 4, 5 and sometimes even 6 cars, well this too is playing with fire. I run cars and have been for quite a long time now and I see these guys at the same places I load. Sometimes I mention to them how easy it will be for a DOT official to notice the lack of tie downs and I ask about load limits on their axles, rims and tires and most times I just get recourse on how the straps are made to do the job and the DOT isn't interested in small trucks so much, etc etc etc. I shrug my shoulders and move on because you simply can't fix stupid.
Before you get on the "Hate this driver" band wagon let me say that I'm not anywhere near perfect but I do take my job seriously. Even after 32 years on the road I check and recheck myself like it's my first week. The results of this are zero accidents, zero violations and a CSA score that is nearly zero. I didn't get this far by pushing my luck or testing my equipment to it's top limitations. Think twice about what you're doing and try and keep yourself focused on what's really right and it will make a difference in your success or failure. in this business. Otherwise you're just as well to go to Vegas and play the house odds. Atleast there you won't kill anyone.
Safe travels everyone and an early Happy Easter.

Watch next thing you know they will put a bumper pull behind that wedge trailer to haul even one more! He'll if it's under 75ft? It's legal!

Im just gonna say it.Most people who are running dually's with wedges just are not professionals. They treat this like a hobby and it shows.DOT should be checking them like they do a big truck because they are notorious for overloading and streching the limits of their equipment. Then they turn around and charge a cheaper rate because their expenses are lower. Its sad
Jokingypsy and SHO-TYME Thank this. -
There are a lot of us that run wedges and pull RVs that are professional and comply to DOT rules and regulations. I do every thing that a ( big truck) does without IFTA
As for inspection I have a nice new green sticker on my windshield from my last inspection. To me this is not a hobby, I earn my living running my truck.
Everything you posted about, is the same for big trucks and you have a problem sharing the road with someone that trucks in a different way. We all have to live on the road with each other, think about it. BTW I drove big trucks for 30 years before I started hauling RVs I've been out here for almost 40 years and over 4 million miles. -
And you, sir, are in no way representative of the average wedge puller. For every two like you, there's 7 who will think nothing of running a strap through a Lambourghini wheel and calling it good. And a large percentage of those who try to do it right don't have the knowledge to understand they still ain't cutting it. Do let us know when you find a manufacturer who okays lasso or basket straps that most wedges have no choice but to run because there are no holes to properly strap a car down. And 'properly' involves far more than just holding the vehicle in place.

This is correct I don't pull a wedge.
This also apply to big trucks on a far larger scale.
I'm not even going to look for one I don't move cars anymore. When I did I only used chains,
