Thanks HTQ, I have done pretty well in aviation and know I will be giving up a lot of money by going into trucking, But I have given up a lot working overseas for many years. I am 60 and want to move back home to Indiana where my family, kids and grandkids live.

I am hoping to drive for a few years and then when I feel it is time retire I will do it. And I can also pick up a little money on my home time working on and doing annual inspections on other peoples airplanes. I am a certified aircraft mechanic and pilot. I have a airplane and a new motorcycle sitting in a hangar in Indiana that for the last 2 years I just fly and ride when I go home for a visit.
We have a house in the Philippines where we will live when I retire and while driving in the states we will stay at my daughters house in Indiana.
So we can stay out for as long as we want, sort of thought maybe 2-3 weeks and sometime longer.
We don't really have any bills so its not so much about the money as it is the adventure.

Always wanted to drive a truck but aviation pays good tax free money plus a lot of other benefits. Just getting burned out working on airplanes and being out of the country.

Wow I am rambling on here haha

You are in an enviable position, dennisroc, and it sounds as if you have a plan. Usually a company driver has a choice of 2 days off every two weeks or 3 days off every three weeks ....and of course, if you would like to stay out longer that is fine. I am sure that you have already noticed that our other resident company driver and our technical guy, passport, is on leave of absence and enjoying the Philippines. I know that he would be happy to help you with any questions that you might have and would be more current on the company policies than I am.....I will still put my two cents in also ....big surprise!:biggrin_25525:

That is wonderful gamma! I am so glad that it is going well. Have you ever been to Chicago? Getting driving experience in some of the larger cities while with a trainer will be a good thing. Have a great day and learn all that you can!

One more bit of news -

There have now been at least 20 reported instances of someone shooting at vehicles in the Kansas City area in the last 30 days. Some say it is a single sniper wearing a ski mask in a small car and others have reported several people in the car passing a handgun around and taking turns shooting. In any case, stay alert.

That's so cool you two got to meet.
I'm jealous....maybe when George and I are driving around the country camping we can stop by and say hi.:yes2557:
His new driver manager is a black woman as tall as Crankee Yankee, and she IS CRANKY, no question.:biggrin_2553:
George is realizing he's a homebody at heart, and that doesn't hurt my feelings at all.
    So we will see.
HAPPY 16TH BIRTHDAY to your daughter HTQ!

    HometimeQueen and dennisroc Thank this.

i guess i am anything but a homebody
was home 4 days that was 2 too long

they changed the pay policy so you get paid the miles you have driven by thursday night no matter when it delivers

90 days before you can have a rider
    that is best anyway
you have enough to worry about without worrying about another bathroom break for the bride
my wife thinks camping is a motel without room service
so there were frequently more breaks
which had to be figured into trip planning

    dennisroc Thanks this.
