there's slight possibility, that he may not even have hot spot as part of his plan.

ran into another trucker trying to do the same thing. and that was his problem. no subscription. FOXFI tether app installed and he was connected,

Only time you should need a MAC address is if you click the button for "only allow specific devices". Atleast with the out of the box tethering. I had a problem with timing out which took forever to find in the menus. basically the device would shut off the wifi if my GPS wasn't using it enough.

I know T-Mobile can block even third party tether apps from working. Some have got around it by using a VPN. That way T-Mobile cannot tell if data packets are from a phone or PC.

ther4e was a time when carriers banned tether apps from the play store. FCC banned that practice.

one could also root their phone. but it's a little work involved, specially if you want any updated operating system that rolls out for your phone.

Use the Fox Fi App on your Smartphone and you shouldn't have a problem with using your phone as a Mobile Hotspot.

I got the S4 also.. make sure under the phone name on the HotSpot screen you set all devices to connect, if not you will have to set the devices you want to connect.

Make sure you have a Data Plan.

Turn on your computer Wi-Fi card, find the device for your phone and it should connect. No setting of the security is needed.
