Question about winches. I want to install some winches on the legs of the loader on back of my truck ,they will be welded on sideways and clearance isn't a issue. The ones the parts place sent are bottom is there a difference other then the side ones being not as wide or is there some other difference ?? Or will I be fine welding those on ? Thanks in advance.

If I understand your question correctly, if you mount the bottom style winch on the side rail (so to speak), the only problem I see is when your tightening the strap, winch is gonna be the pin that keeps it lock it place. Your gonna have to manually hold it in place while tightening. Does that make sense? I knew someone that was doing the samething, with a similiar winch, but he cut torch a piece on top of the winch across so he could weld it on a 45 degree angle and that kept the locking pin secure itself. Does that make sense, cause I lost myself after the first sentence.....lol....

You make perfect sense. I'm pickin up what your layin down lol. That would work to angle it some too. I'm mounting them right on the loader leg tubes I made brackets to go off the side of the leg so the straps clear the leg. So the side mount the winch lock must be in a different spot so it falls down ? Will dot get picky about it ?
