I think my worst was 24000 pounds over at the Chittenango service area on the NYS thruway. Permit had expired. Luckly they showed some mercy when it came time for the fine and I think it was around $350. That was 15 years ago though. At least in NY they dont make you sit there and rot until you get the load legal.

Well, that's why it's nice to have a CAT scale ticket from weighing your truck empty. It gives more of a leg to stand on if you decide to pursue legal action against whoever lied on the BOL about what their product weighs. I can't help but wonder how many folks are being cheated every day in this fashion.

I got one for $7,000 once. Thankfully since the officer didn't show up it got thrown out.

You know, I'm shocked, I thought for sure someone would be in here with their panties all in a bunch yelling "if it's not right it don't move" blah blah blah...

Well sorry if I violated the thread rules, but the more I look around in this business I find it pretty hard to take much serious anymore. At least this way it stays fun, not like the earlier days fun but somewhat fun.

Your post was a good read. It kept me interested. Your a good writer just so you know.

EDIT: What I forgot to say is that all that stuff you mentioned in the quote above is not likely to happen if your a company driver. The relaxing part anyway.

The company will expect you to drive 11 hours a day and take no longer than a 10 hour break. It will be like prison until you get a better gig. Even when you do move on, it will be like moving from a maximum security prison to a medium security prison.

My trainer had some weird things about him too. Like when we parked the truck he would ask me something like "Does it feel like the truck is leaning to the left?".

After the first time I said "yea", and we ended up moving the truck, I always tell him we were definitely level.

You sleep with the truck leaning left and you'll wake up with a headache..

What are the weights on the other axles? 40 lbs is nothing. As long as your under gross and not over an any other axles your good to go.
From what you say you have done I would say it is time to get another trainer. This one is less than professional and you need to have one that is more knowledgeable.
