So I bump a dock here and there love chatting to the guys some times to hear what they have to say. With that being said I keep getting told different things. I only listen really to the older experienced guys and what they have to say. I just can't get the exact details but I do believe them.

Now the the paper logs is going to drop but I hear May or June July anyone have an exact time yet?
Also he and others were saying that the doctor has to be certified now. I knew that but when is that going to be into affect?
Last he was also saying that the BMI Neck Size and sleep apnea test was going to be mandatory as well. When does that go into affect?

i hate to ask someone to advertise a website but if you can message me possibly a web site were I can also track what the goverment wants to regulate or put into affect that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

As far as the paper logs going bye bye I'm not sure when that will be 100% implemented.... Now that the FMCSR has written the rule I expect there will be numerous lawsuits and that it will probably be held up in court for the next couple of years....at least I hope....the certified Doctor business has already been implemented... I just took my physical and received a letter from the DMV stating it had to be done with a certified Doctor on the Federal Registry... The Doctor has a weight and BMI chart in the office... They first check your weight and then match it up with the BMI on the chart... If you are overweight and fit into the obese category you will be mandated to take a sleep study test for sleep apnea. The governments weight standards are ridiculous....there are two categories, overweight and obese.. I don't believe overweight will require a sleep study but obese will. I'm 6' 2" and 192 Lbs. I'm also an avid cyclist... According to the governments chart, at 194 I'm considered overweight.

Ok. So now if the certified doctors says you need a sleep study you need one. Can you show me where this is in stone like a website.

They want all these regulations and this and that. You know it does bother me to an extent but why don't they level the playing field here. Why don't they do over time or add cents per mile after working 50 hours in a week.

I guess if the goverment can't keep jobs they'll make them by pushing guys out of their career. Makes perfect sense.

Sorry driver, I can't, but I'm sure with some research you can find it..a fleet manager I know told me this law was passed by congress do I'm pretty sure it's documented somewhere... I'm just telling you of my experience I had at the Doctor last week...they laid it all out for me, telling me that if you're obese a sleep study will b required..

Look here is the thing that really gets me, the doc, like the guy who is doing your inspection is the one who makes the decision and he doesn't have to always justify it. The doc has to approve your phsyical condition and if he feels that you need a sleep study, then what are you going to do? Nothing but do a sleep study.

Why should they be involved? This is a grown up's industry, not a child's and because many act like children we end up with draconian regulations that are there to prevent something from happening. When the government enacts something to make things fair, it becomes more of a mess. We are exempt for OT, there is no need to involved the government into trying to raise the wage or screw us by being involved with our wait times when the best solution is to thin the herd of drivers out and make it more of a driver's work world and not a shippers.
