Im afraid he's right, you'd be a lot less tired at the end of a working day getting out of a typical euro truck, better ride, much quieter cabs, less vibration, usually more power with no overdrives means less gear changing,( I know us roads are much flatter so it wouldn't be as important) lighter clutch pedal make driving in traffic easier, much better seats all help aswell as automated systems like retarders that work with the cruise control means you can just set a speed and forget it, it will manage speed up and down hills.

im with you on the gearchanging, it's really not that hard although it will take a day or two for it to be second nature but you should be pretty competent after a few hours.

i prefer the look of euro cabovers but Europe never made great looking conventionals probably because not many were sold there by comparison, attention to detail is much better on euro trucks, doesn't come across well in pictures though

everywhere will go metric, only a couple of countries still use the imperial system

nice car by the way, Quattro too? What engine did you go for? Is that it in your profile pic? Sweet

    Schwinder Thanks this.

You mean with under steer in every corner and bend :) That's at least my experience with Quattro . I'm being a bit to hard they got a bit better lately since they stopped mounting the hole engine in front of the front axle.

To be fair, had to drive a Tandem truck this week for some reason. (guess it's because I had vacation last week and guy driving the truck I drive regularly manged to destroy 6 chains on his way over the mountain + a lot of other stuff)
Anyway even with 8t on the front axle it wants to under steer in the corners. And empty the back end is a bit bumpy and wants to slide out. 3.10 is the axle length on it so it's a bit shorter than NA trucks but my guess the steer grip wont change much with longer axle lengths.

OT. Crap it's easy to drive with the active cruise control. You don't have to do a #### anymore. Accelerates before the hill and let of before the crest everything to save fuel. Just activate the CC and hold the wheel :)

If someone ever had an accident with EU truck @let say 40mil/h, he or she might not tell the story of how did it happen...

despite how much companies talks about their safety, don't believe it , it just sale's propaganda.

I think you better read up on crash test results.
    N A cabs aren't the safest either.

it does not mean necessary, i mean laws of physics still exist and you can make truck safe as much you want 40tonnes and speed are still same

i have seen trucks involved in crash into other trucks at max speed ,many of them still drive

one of my cousins was driving fh volvo which when it new was crashed(loaded with max speed-driver fall asleep) in to truck which stop for toll , they even repair same cab , you could only notice it was crashed by 5th wheel it was pretty hard to lock it

for example look at this, truck was fully loaded with scrap metal , more than 100kmh was found at tacho sheet , driver broke only leg , unfortunately kill 4 persons

    Oh man that's horrible.
The truck used the car between it and the stationary truck as a crumple zone.
Those poor people did not stand a chance.

    it is ,

i dont think that about car as zone , scrap metal trucks are usually overloaded as they are heavy empty ....and with that kind of weight and almost 30m/s car weight of maybe 1.5t dont mean anything
