So the 880 is replacing the 800, it seems. Kind of a shame. The 800 was a good all-around platform.

Only the people at Kenworth now a definite answer to this, but I can think of a couple plausible explanations which come to mind if I venture a guess at it. The first being that the T680 is more of a direct replacement aimed at the market which bought into the T700 and T2000. The T2000 was introduced in 1996, was phased out for the T700 around 2007 or 2008, IIRC, and the 680 is likely aimed at coming across as something more than just another 'warmed over' variant of the T2000 (which, I know when I look in the cabs of my company's T700s, they look pretty much identical to the cab of every T2000 I've ever driven, albeit minus the "Smart Wheel" option in the '99 I drive on the side). And, let's face it... the T2000/T700 is aimed at a pretty competitive market.. Freightliner, Volvo, Navistar.. all have trucks that could be considered a direct equivalent to the T2000/T700, and if KW is going to be a contender in that market, they need to offer something the competition doesn't.
The 660, on the other hand, has a longer lineage, and appeals to a market in which the competition isn't so stiff... you can't really look at a Freightliner, Navistar, or Volvo product and directly equate it to the T660. The T660 replaced the T600, which itself was introduced in 1986 and was based on an existing - and very successful - product (that being the W900).
    Just my $.02 worth, anyhow.

To be honest I do not understand either. But I guess Kenworth keep build them if people buy it.
Is anybody here who choose 660 over 680? Why?
