Expanding and wondering how - NOT a solicitation, just ignorance

I've got another hot shot driver (friend of mine) who is interested in pooling resources. I have some good repetitive business and have lost a few loads because I was busy, so I could use the help. He has hooks into the gas well drilling industry, and between us we could keep me, him and his wife pretty busy.

My question is if we do this under my operating authority, how do we split the revenues? We don't want a partnership and I don't want employees. Surely there's a business model out there that addresses the issues of costs of insurance, etc vs. revenue splits so that everyone makes a buck.

Ideas?
