Yes I did think about that, but from my previous experience it's really hard to find a good co.
I went through quite a few before I ended up getting with my boy that's with Conway now.
Well, he is a 65 yr old black guy from the mountains of Virginia and quite possibly the coolest person I have met in my life.
I spent some years in the military and have met a lot of #### people over my lifetime already, and I am only 35.
I actually met him because I was walking past his truck, and he was jamming Brooks and Dunn's "My Maria" as loud as it would go, rocking out.
He looked over, and he told me when he first saw me, he was laughing to himself saying:
"I bet this white boy aint never seen a black man jamming out to no country music like this before" which was 1000% accurate.
We just hit it off, roomed together, eventually linked up on the road together, and had a blast -
That is the only thing which made the CRST experience bearable to the extent that it was.
Putting my life in the hands of someone else, is sketchy anyways.
Who knows, maybe I will eventually train someone. -
I'd be concerned that you cant find a better company to work for the USX. That being said, just drive slow and careful. You have 5 months experiancelinuxjoe Thanks this.

I applaud you for recognizing USX desire to simlpy put a body in a seat as it only reiterates my contention that as I am a 51 year old in good health with 30 years under my belt and it is more difficult for me to maintain my CDL than it is for you to go trucking. Good Luck...
linuxjoe Thanks this. -
Yeah I have a speadsheet with like 60 companies on it, I posted it in another thread.
I've got a list of places I can go should I choose:
Heyl, Stevens, Werner, USX, Knight, etc - I just have not chosen yet -
Actually I'm a little surprised they aren't requiring the 50 hour training period. I had a "student" with way more experience than you that had to do 50 with me because he was out for two years. Maybe the re ruiter got it wrong. Don't listen to the naysayers. They don't know anything about USX. It's fashionable to bash the big companies on TTR.

She told me today that if I wanted it, or felt I need it, my choice I can go out with someone.
She said everything she see's right now, Ill be first seat.
I leave next Sunday for orientation on Monday. -
Good luck to ya. I did my orientation in Tunnel Hill. It wasn't too bad. BTW I got my start at CRST as well. Ended up staying there a year and a half before coming over here. Been with USX for almost 3 years now.

That is a false statement. The only big companies that get bashed are the training companies that found a way maximize profits at the expense of trainees. Turnover is so high we might as well use it to our advantage type deal.
There is a reason complaints come in numbers and focus at certain companies. You can look at all the pretty ads you want. Unless you walk that mile or talk to someone that has walked that mile you really don't know. Sure there are vindictive complaints. But there is also valid complaints. Sort through it and take it for what it's worth. -
Watkins-Shepard sends drivers out solo right out of CDL school and a 10 day orientation. Nothing wrong with that. You don't need a baby sitter. Truck driving isn't that difficult; don't even need a high school diploma; only a 4 week CDL school. Heyl would have been my choice. You will probably be giving Heyl a call pretty soon; USX is best for teams.
