I agree on coopers family bbq, best Ive ever had, you can cut the prime rib with a plastic fork. I use to run with hog an other friends out to llano tx to coopers. Also if your in Temple tx you can park beside walmart plenty of resturants in walking or bobtail distance. Our quiznos closed also.
Something Good to eat.

The BBQ joint in the Cefco truck stop in Cameron, TX is pretty good, can't remember the name. There is a Dickeys BBQ next to the Pilot in Huntsville, it's a chain but still beats the heck out of Wendys at the Pilot. The little truck stop off I-45/TX7 in Centerville, TX (again can't remember the name) has BBQ and it's really good too.
I agree with the OP, I get burnt out on truck stop food. I'm always looking for someplace I can park legally and get something to eat.Dinomite and Wooly Rhino Thank this. -
hope y'all don't depend on eating out for every meal.
I have a 12V cooler and keep it loaded with cheese, fruit, lunch meats and mac or 'tater salads from home.
spend maybe 10 bucks/ week on coffee.
although a good place for a meal as a special treat is always a good find.Wooly Rhino Thanks this. -
Yeah......All good and all BUT............I Feel Kinda 'weird' going into Olive Garden or Applebee's in By MYSELF!!
I Guess if I had a friend or Wife with me it would be Good, Kinda embarrasing driving a Bobtail , You know people will be Looking at you Funny.. Typical soccer Moms and Yuppies -
My idea of a good dinner is a big baked potato with lots of butter, some steamed vegies, topped off with a large portion of salmon or chicken.
And I can make that dinner in my little lunchbox oven, for about $6.
Can't do any better than that at a Quizno's or Subway, or any restaurant.Wooly Rhino Thanks this. -
That's Woody's in Centerville!! I don't normally stop by in a the truck because that exit is way too busy. But when the wife and I go to Houston to get my daughters. We always stock up on that Q. Sometimes we even have some left by the time we make it back to OKC.

In Mass, find a D'Angelos sub shop.Great sandwiches including lobster [ in the summer ] ,good value too.

Yeah.... Too bad about Quiznos. I always loved their subs better than Subway, or other chains. And they were the 1st chain (I think) to offer toasting! Glad the store 3 miles from the house is still kicking.
I just had an awesome bacon cheese burger at the restaurant in Wings America Pilot in Avoca, IA a few days ago.
Love the hole in the wall, Angie's, next to a fuel stop in Fort Hancock, TX. Plenty of dirt parking.
And although I didn't get here in time, the Hitchin Post Bar and Grill looks promising, with great reviews online. It's next to Kum and Go in Bevington, IA, with room for a handful of trucks. -
I24 exit 117 or right close is an O' Charlie's NoCoCraig and I ate at. 1/2 a block or so from the truck stop. Their Louisiana Sirlion is to die for. 3/4 pound, 1" think steaks. Ordered mine well done and I was just like I wanted it, brown and juicy all the way through. Came with bacon mashed potatoes. I don't get down there often but oh so good.

I'll give you a tip on where NOT to eat since I can't remember the great place in Washington I found by accident a few months ago. There is a pilot in weed, CA off of I5 with a Mexican food place closr. I had to make several emergency stops the next morning, once on the side of the road. Not pleasant..
