I have a concern about some shiffity things going on in my neighbor hood. I have a couple neighbors working for a small time company here in MN, they are buyin a couple trks from the carrier and hired my nephew to drive for them. The way it sounds when my nephew turns in his logs too my neighbor they erase his name and put theirs in place. I don't think the actual company knows about this, is this a no no? Now my nephew found out about this and went back too his previous company, so hes no longer involved with them. What would be the consequences for this? I've been driving for 18+ yrs now and its hard enough to make FMCSA happy, if at all, and am tired of ppl that do #### like this and get away with it. Thanks.
Falsifying Logs??

Sounds very very shady. Makes you wonder what would happen if he had an accident and the owner wasn't driving the truck. How was he paid? Makes you wonder if he's doing that so he can collect per-diem?

Hammer will drop extra hard if (when) they get caught ...
Do you really feel you need to rat them out? ...
Even if you called the FMCSA and reported them, all you have is an accusation ... if that turns out it is all it is, how happy do you think the FMCSA will be with you then? ...
I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it, your nephew isn't working there anymore ... we are already pretty much living in a police state, do you think the cops need any more reason to give people grief? ...
If this is an editing of an electronic log thing, that will be able to be traced, and it will be found ... maybe be best to just be a fly on the wall for this one ...ChristDiver Thanks this. -

Leave it alone. Never mess with criminals in your own neighborhood. It never goes down well.

Well the thing is these guys are always asking me for advise cause I've owned my own trks before, then they do dumb #### like this, and don't listen. I'm not worried about them as far as being criminals it aint like that.

If your nephew has copy of his logs for when he worked there I would have him take his log copies to a dot office and explain the situation of what he thinks and or knows is going on. Dot can do an on the spot audit without notice to that company and if it is found out what your nephew says is true they could be shut down. Nothing worse than a company who would do such a thing
if your nephew is worried about doing this, send me a pm, I'll send you my email, and he can email me the evidence along with company name address etc...I have family that work in the dot department and can assure you something will be done if what you posted is true and in fact happening and or still is going onLittleitchy Thanks this. -
This link will get you to some more info to make a decision. Complaints that are anonymous don't get investigated the way I read it. In a few more years with the ELD's on the horizon that hanky panky will be pretty tough to pull off anyway. I'm leaning to the not worth your time or your nephews. Unless of course you think these guys are an imminent hazard to the motoring public.
