Wane what ever you do dont give up. There is not one day that has gone by that I dont want to quit, sometimes its lik10 to 15 times a day. And backing im the worst backer in the history of truck driving. I still think at times what were these people thinking giving me a truck. But at end of day I go sleep and just pray for a better day. I get an upset stomach when I have to back up. You will be fine hey im down to only wanting to quit 5 times a day. hang in there u will be fine.

 

I think I been out here like 3 weeks now seems like 3 years and still know nothing. Every day at first I was like I dont want to go but as time has gone on there are times I go and think later hey I just went this morning with out that dreaded feeling. U will get it if I can keep going u can to. As far as nerves I dont think I have any left lol and im going to alanta in the morning definitely scared

well guys i'm not dead lol..... should get a truck tomorrow... they supprised me today they didnt push the lease at all. backed better than i ever have even though transam wasnt watching lol... hope everyone is well and safe

Congrats, gamma! You made it! I am so glad that you were able to see your family over the weekend. I know they are ready for you to have your first home time!

 

Krazyhorsechick, passport gave the best advice and it is a good basic foundation for anywhere that you have to go. Make it your routine. I think most of the drivers would tell you that they have a reliable routine that they perform when they are driving....it helps calm some of the stresses of dealing with new places and the unexpected.

 

Oh my God, this morning's phone call with night dispatch takes the cake to highlight their stupidity. Keep in mind I have an 0600 delivery less than 10 miles away. My alarm was set for 0430 to be up to the truck by 0445 so I had time to deal with getting on base. Phone ri,gs just before 0430 and the call goes as so, Ive already seen its TransAm calling:

Me: Why are you calling me at this time of morning.
Dispatch: This is Maggie at TransAm. Its 0430 central, 0530 eastern and we want to make sure youre moving.
Me: Its 0430. Im in the central time zone.
((Meanwhile, hubby is laying next to me laughing))
Dispatch: Youre in Florida, youre in the eastern time zone.
Me: Are you kidding me? Im at HOME. I KNOW WHAT TIME ZONE I LIVE IN. *click*

A minute or two later the phone rings and as I answer I hear "Well maybe she was asleep."
Dispatch: Hey this is Chris. Florida is in the eastern timezone. Its 0530.
Me: Look, in case youre not aware, there is one stupid part of Florida that is different from the rest and is central time zone. I live in that part. Its central time until you head out toward Tallahassee. Its only 0430 and Im not going to be late.
Dispatch: I thought the time change was at the AL/GA line.
Me: I dunno but I am definitely in central time.

If I had an email address for night dispatch I wanted to troll them with a Youtube video of The Time Warp from Rocky Horror.

 

Thank you for that wonderful laugh this morning LOL! I swear my ribs hurt from reading this and knowing that this actually happened lmao!
